My worst experience whilst travelling! I called and was interrogated on the phone but I seemed to pass the 'test'. I called in a huge favour and got a lift there. When I arrived and was confronted with rudeness and another interrogation. I wasn't deemed a traveller enough to stay there. I offered evidence of my travels from London, South...

The Santa Fe Int'l hostel as a educational not-for- profit has a 30 plus year tradition of hosting, without discrimination, those engaged in TRAVEL for personal development & self education ... The woman had been utilizing a number of couch surfing hosts ... Apparently to minimize personal costs during a long term stay ... When one such, was terminated, a...

if you don't mind a stain on the floor or lamps with no lampshades, this place is heaven on earth. Nice staff in a scenic laid back mountain town, an open welcoming community filled with all sorts of good healthy communal food. Culinary matcha, chia seeds, chipotle quinoa, buckwheat pancake mix, PEANUT BUTTER!! and sometimes you get lucky and someone...

I've been to Santa Fe for research and was looking for a hostel and cheap place to stay for a week. I booked the Santa Fe International Hostel without any expectations and in a retroperspective I'm so happy that I have been there. The idea and 'culture' of a hostel is lived within this place. There was a warm welcome...

My daughter and I planned to stay here two nights but escaped after one. First of all, the gentleman who took our money repeatedly told us in detail how ill he'd been the day before and acted like his medication was still affecting his brain. Creepy. Even given that rooms are (supposed to be) cleaned by guests, this one had...

I must admit I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel but they do have some unusual rules that you may or may not like. Had a private room with shared dad and will admit the room was extremely basic and the blanket had holes in it. OK, let's just say the room was pretty rundown. As this is a...

This was my first hostel stay. It was such a beautiful experience. We walked in and met Paul Hester at the desk. What a delight he was. Each day each one of us had a chore to do that took all of 10 minutes, at the most. We could eat anything in the fridge without a name on it and...

Unfriendly staff. They gave me an attitude for absolutely no reason. I was "asked" to do chores which I am ok with. They did not really ask. They shouted it at me like I was their maid and then they supervised "my work" while I was cleaning. They made fun of me several times after that just to humiliate me....

I've stayed in dozens of hostels and this was one of the absolute best! The staff and owner are so welcoming and fun to chat with. The hostel gets a donation from Whole Foods once a week, so there is always TONS of free breads, yogurt, milk, fruits, pasta etc, etc. The facilities are old but decently maintained. Guests all...

The price is great!!! It's not the Hilton, but if you want a historic Route 66 hostel that has a great social atmosphere, this is the place. I recommend staying for a few nights, as there is a lot to do in Santa Fe and surrounding area. Make sure to visit some of the local hiking trails and art museums.

“We chose the private double room with a shared bathroom. The room was not as clean as you would expect in a normal hotel, but the bedding was clean- and that is the important part to me!”

“Go somewhere else, especially if you are sharing expenses with someone. You will get a motel room at roughly the same price as two of you paying for this hostel.”
