This was a last minute trip through AZ’s Route 66 and our 2nd time to the Monte Vista. The room was comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Due to Covid, things were limited here and about town but things will get better. Can’t help but laugh at the tiny sink and big facet -see pic
Historic hotel well located in a vibrant area close to train station. The lower bar area was lively in a good way. The staff were friendly. The room was spacious and pleasantly decorated. Coffee provided. Room had some noise but not enough to be bothersome. We were told parking wasn’t included and it wasn’t convenient either. The bathroom wasn’t yucky but it was small and had no vent and needed a deep clean. The beds were comfortable enough but very squeaky and creaky.
Trying to focus on non-chains with a nostalgic feel, we came across this gem in downtown Flagstaff. Well located with free parking next door. Very nice bar on site with a delicious Asian fusion place in the same building. Friendly, welcoming staff. Self service laundry on-site was a plus for us. We had a lovely, relaxing stay and would highly recommend a stay!
The staff do not comprehend the definition of “reservation.” According to the staff, we made the terrible mistake of using the hotel’s website to book a room. The website is notoriously unreliable and the staff will not take responsibility for its apparent failings. We ended up with an over priced version of the wrong suite. It is meant to be a signature Queen with a view (it is smaller than their standard rooms). We were meant to get the Jacuzzi bath, and it was not given per reservation. Turns out we did everything right and they falsely advertise. Honestly, it was infuriating to arrive and realize that our concern was met with complete indifference. The place is run down and shabby. I am thoroughly unimpressed.
One of the great attractions of this property was the staff - an outstanding team of energetic youthful, vibrant, eclectic people that made this a rewarding and memorable place to stay. NO MORE. The owner canned the Rendezvous Bar crew. That bar off the lobby with windows on the downtown street scene was one of the unique places to engage with locals, visitors from across the planet, enjoy friendly, excellent service, and bantering with the crew - coffee in the morning, Happy Hours, or vibrant evenings. NO MORE There are other options in the downtown district for accommodations and beverages from dawn to the wee hours - you'll find me there.
