We stayed here for 2 nights for a cheerleading competition at the buffalo convention centre. The hotel is within walking distance to the venue, as well as plenty of restaurants and coffee shops. Also the front desk staff, Bianca in particular, were always helpful with questions about the hotel and area, and addressing our concerns. The room was large, modern decorated, with a nice view.

The downside...I’m not sure why but housekeeping skipped our room. We did see them in the hallway, but they stayed out of our room; we paid for a room with 2 queen beds and got “upgraded” to a room with 2 doubles; finally a stay on the 12th floor puts you under a rooftop bar, which does have loud music (Street noise was also noticeable).

Oh a whole, if you have an event at the convention centre, this hotel is not a bad option. However given the issues we had, I can’t say for sure if I’d stay here again or go elsewhere

The good - The building itself is very modern and trendy. Beautiful decor. Two nice bars, one of which is rooftop and offers really great views. The Vice restaurant in the lobby was excellent! Ate there twice during our stay and would have gone a 3rd time if we had the time. There were many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Starbucks right around the corner. The rooms had handheld steamers available which was a nice amenity while traveling for a wedding with dress clothes.

The bad - The rooms could have been cleaner. We had to move the end table to retrieve something we dropped and you could tell they haven't moved that table ino that to sweep under it. The rooms go along with the buildings modernish decor and have no carpeting. Which would be great if it didn't mean you could hear every footstep your neighbor made. Could also here every time someone opened/closed(slammed) a door. We had a room on the 12th floor which apparently is right under the rooftop bar. If you're planning for a quiet night, definitely don't get a room from 1201-1210. It's all night until about 2am that you can here the DJ and chairs being dragged across the floor and the bartenders dropping mixing tins. So bad that we had to go to Walgreens and get ear plugs.

This is a nice hotel with friendly staff.

Style: The hotel has more of a modern minimalist vibe which is great but just doesn't end up suiting the rest of the spaces as those seem a bit more upscale casual.

Rooms: Our room was quite big and I liked the decor. They had a small little table there which was convenient. The TV was hard to figure out. The bathroom was nice and spacious. They had a floor length mirror which was great. I do prefer having 2 sinks and our room only had one so that was a bit of a disappointment. They also didn't have one of those up close make up mirrors and the lighting by the mirrors wasn't the best which makes it a bit tough to get ready. The room did have a lot of natural sunlight but there is a wall between the room and the mirror area so the light doesn't trickle in.

View: There isn't much of a view outside out window. We could see the parking lot but in the distance we could see a beautiful church as well.

Restaurants: They have 2 restaurants connected to the hotel. They both seem like a very popular spot for the locals to hangout so as a hotel guest it was way too crowded and loud. It seemed like they had very strict dress codes to get in too. One of the restaurants has a connecting door to the hotel but the bouncer would not let us use it and made us walk half a block around to get in, seemed unnecessary after we showed them proof that we were guests at the hotel.

Overall, it's a nice place to stay but not the best hotel I've stayed at especially considering it's a Marriott hotel.

Hotel it self is new and exciting. Front desk is very helpful and informative. Unfortunately that where it ends. I had purposely left the do not disturb sign out on hanging on my front door so that room service would not come into my room. Personal preference not to let stranger in my room. Well that didn’t stop one employee. I was surprised while my 11 year old daughter was getting dress I hear one knock on the door and instantly a man come in the rooM with master key. I was surprised and felt violated especially since my daughter was in the middle of changing. I had informed the front desk and they seemed shocked. Not hearing back from a manager I called and left a message. Hour later I get a call back by a female telling me they would investigate the situation. Not for nothing the place is small and there is not much to investigate, but the fact that your employee need to be properly trained before busting into a guest room. I have never experience such unprofessional hotel where they didn’t even compensate for the situation. Never again. Beware of the 12th floor is no good you can hear the speaker banging until 2 am in the morning and your ear plug are useless. Very hard to find front entrance to this place and no real directions to where to park considering the sign say aloft hotel from 6am to 6pm. Not sure what that was about.

Dear Alexandria, We appreciate your honest feedback regarding your stay at our recently opened property, the Aloft Buffalo Downtown. I do apologize for the issue you experienced during your stay, as that is out of character of our hotel and our staff. As we spoke on the phone, I did give the Executive Housekeeping Manager all information you provided so he could properly investigate the issues that occurred during your stay. Being a large property with several employees, matters as such does take some time for following up, and as soon as he is able to speak thoroughly with employee, he will be reaching out immediately. At $370 per night I would expect nothing less than perfection without having to say anything. Unfortunately, received an experience that wasn't worth $100 per night even after complaining.

First, the view from the room wasn't close to what was shown when I booked it. I am attaching photos of what the booking site showed for the 2 different queen offerings and the actual view of 8 outdoor condensing units and an air handling unit. If you stay here, at least tell them you do not want room 1030.

Second, the hotel is in disrepair, wall sconces are hanging by their wiring instead of being mounted properly to the electrical box, see the attached photo. I believe this is a fire hazard and the Buffalo Fire Marshall needs to make a surprise visit.

Third, I had a two night stay. Even though house keeping was on my floor several times at no time between the two nights did they attempt to enter my room to see if linens needed replacement or trash needed emptying. I stopped at the front desk and asked if they could send housekeeping up at around 5:30PM, the desk clerk stated she didn't think that was possible. I think by the way I left she sensed I wasn't happy, because when I returned later that evening, the trash was emptied and linens replace.

Forth, I am a Bonvoy Gold Elite member. Two of the perks that come with my membership are a complimentary room upgrade, if available and enhanced in room internet access. On check-in, the clerk didn't even offer to see if a room upgrade was available, something Hilton has done every time I stayed there as an Honors Gold member. If the internet in the room was enhanced, I'd hate to see what the standard is like. I went to download a database for the software I use to purchase product for my business, it was going to be a 28 minute download on their enhanced internet, I turned off my WiFi and downloaded it via cellular in less than 3 minutes.

Finally, on checkout, the desk clerk didn't ask how my stay was. If he did, I probably wouldn't be writing this.

My advice, don't stay here. Save some money and go to a Motel 6 or other like property, you'll get a greater value for your money.

Our room was not cleaned properly and you can tell it wasn’t given final inspection. The windows had finger prints, and so much hair in the shower. I didn’t say anything I just washed it down the drain. I’m not Covid sensitive but I do expect my room to be cleaned. This made me question everything about my room so I started looking closer. Things weren’t neatly placed in the room as an example towels were all crooked, telephone cord twisted just didn’t feel like they cared. The bed wasn’t neatly made, it’s as if someone sat on the bed. I pulled the sheets back and they were clean. While I know other guest stays in the room I want my room to feel as if no one has stayed before. Shampoo and condition were more than half gone.
Check in was very pleasant and courteous. I’m 100% sure I’ll never stay again.

We didn’t have any sanitizing wipes in our room. I thought this was a standard by Marriott since Covid? Due to cleanliness issues I felt the need to wipe the remote, light switches, door handles and telephone. I used my own sanitizer.

I could hear the people next door all night long.

Bed was comfy and some good restaurants just a block away.

Travel to Buffalo frequently and this was the first time at the Aloft.
The property is in an area we don't usually stay in but found it within walking distance of everything we usually do.
From a design point its really interesting. The hotel incorporates the 1914 Fraternal Order of the Eagles building and the original ballroom, gorgeous vintage swimming pool and (yep) a bowling alley. The new wrap around structure though is totally modern.
Our original room booking turned out to be under the top floor club (be aware on weekend nights) and because of bass considerations we asked for a different floor - Jason was amazing about it, and thank you Ick at the front desk.
The room we ended up with was fantastic, with great views of the city and lake and a balcony- beautiful.
If you aren't a fan of modern design it might not be your cup of tea but we thought the rooms were smart, comfortable and super styling.
Will be back.

We spent an evening at the downtown location following a wedding that we had attended there. The hotel sent us an email notifying us that we could have an early check in but that didn't happen. Once we got to the room, I questioned the cleanliness since I saw some dust balls on the floor. Then to my dismay, i put a bottle of water in the fridge and found some old food from a previous guest. YUK!! The next morning I wanted a cup of coffee and they only had decaf. Disappointed, I took my morning shower and the shower drain didn't work very well and the shower water began to creep up on me. Also, friends of ours had a room down the hall and upon arrival there was a bottle of champagne left in the room with two empty potato chip bags and an inhaler under the bed. Housekeeping doesn't seem to be a priority at this location. My wife began to fear that maybe they didn't even change out the linens, but I'm sure they must have at least I hope so. UGH. The noise from the rooftop bar blared music well into the early morning hours. I would definitely not stay at this hotel ever again.

The hotel determined 2 days before our wedding/event that certain members of our group would get cancellation notices in their emails even after having their reservations secured for about 1 years time. This caused much stress, concern and time spent to get things straightened out. With numerous guests having the same last name, rooms were mixed up, a lot of time was wasted getting rooms reinstated - due to the fact the hotel overbooked. This should not have been our concern as our reservations were made well in advance and secured by credit cards. Attempts were made to relocate part of our party, which having transportation secured to and from the hotel would've caused quite an issue. This hotel created much unneeded stress, and upset quite a few guests. Errors in room assignments were still happening even after guests had checked in. Incorrect rooms were assigned and it was the biggest mess I have ever had to encounter upon a check-in. I would NEVER Recommend this hotel to any guests coming to Buffalo again. It was an embarrassment to have suggested this hotel as the hotel chosen for out of town and in town guests to stay the night of our event. Poor management.
