I totally concur with all positive reviews of the Wayside....the Wayside is the complete package...for a specific traveler. Great Location: Check; Comfortable rooms: Check (hey, its a former mansion across from The Elms on Bellevue); Great breakfast (included in room price): Check; VALUE: DOUBLE CHECK (parking is FREE). But there's more...when you check into the Wayside you meet the owners...try... More

First time staying in a bed and breakfast since I was a small child. Its almost as I remember. Feels like staying at someones house. If you are into that, you will love this place. When booking online it said two night minimum but once I called we were accommodated for the one night. Its located right on the same... More

We stayed here this past weekend and we were glad we did. The house has a lot of character and is in a great location. The Elms mansion is literally across the street. Lorraine and her niece Alesia run this place and are very welcoming and accommodating. The upstairs hallway is very nice with a book shelf with books and... More

We had a weding to attend in Salve Regina in Newport this summer, I started looking for hotels in January, prices of all places remotely close to the town or the venue were EXTREMELY high. No to mention all required a minimum of 2 nights. This place was recommend by the wedding party, it was VERY reasonable priced, the location... More

If you are looking for a place to stay on a summer weekend in Newport for about half the price of the major hotels this is that. BUT for the price it does not live up to what it should be. The staff is very friendly. But the facility has not been kept up. After looking at the pool we... More

My family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This is a cozy large home with a pool and a lovely breakfast. Our hosts were wonderful, friendly people. We felt like we were staying in a friend's home. We were able to walk to many sites from the home. Would definitely recommend the Wayside Guest House.

We stayed in the Library Room which was very classy and huge! We had a door right on to a porch and the swimming pool. The staff was so friendly and accommodating they made us feel like old friends visiting. The bed was very comfy and stylish. It is a nice en suite. I highly recommend staying here. Thanks Lorraine... Lorraine, Alicia, et al. are wonderful. It is not the easiest place to find in the dark, but Alicia was texting us as we were turning around on Bellevue Ave. at 12:30 in the morning. The Butler's Pantry, a "smaller room", was bigger than most hotel rooms with a queen size bed. Breakfast was very nice & the location for... More

The Wayside has all the charm of a bed and breakfast with all the splendor of a Newport mansion. I was greeted by Lorraine and Alicia with warm cookies at the door! My expanded continental breakfast was filling and included home made yogurt. The grand entrance has 16 ft ceilings. The crown moldings are very impressive. My room was very... More

My 89 year old Mom and I spent her birthday weekend at the Wayside Guest House. We stayed in the library room on the first floor. Its a really pretty room with tall ceilings and a walkout to a pretty patio overlooking the pool. An interesting event occurred at around midnight on the first night we stayed there. My smartphone...
