The pool and hot tub have a relaxing vibe with a wonderful view. Unlike other similarly-priced hotels in the area, the premises are overall very quiet, minus the unavoidable but infrequent noises of the big city right outside your window. If you, like us, are fans of getting as much sleep as biologically possible while on vacation, you'll be pleased. Housekeeping, which many other hotels have attempted to skimp on at the "4 star" price point in recent years, is prompt and thorough. Our room was cleaned and linens were changed every day. No annoying requests necessary. Staff was available at all hours and responded promptly. Room charge privileges at the Halekulani made meals and House Without a Key or Orchids a breeze. My wife and I have been to a number of "4/4.5 star" hotels around Waikiki over the years, and the Halepuna is far and away our favorite at this price level. We do not have children yet, but we noticed many couples with young children here who seemed to be well accommodated. However, large groups or families with older children are probably going to want something with a bigger/louder pool area.
Another that needs to be commended, Sara. I have a weird sense of humor, but she was up for the game. As mentioned, we have stayed here before, and at that time, they had provided us with Halapuna water bottles, which we loved - unfortunately, we lost the rubber seal and were not able to replace it, she tried upon a visit to the hotel, which we did while in Waikiki. When we arrived, I mentioned that .... she laughed and she really went out of her way - she gave us new bottles, which is just way over the top, and appreciated.
The above is one of the main reasons we LOVE this hotel, attention to personalization and friendliness goes a long way to making a guest feel comfortable. The other is the room, bathroom and terrace...all fantastic and so comfortable. It was lovely having a terrace with two lounge beds, which made it nice to sit and read without going to the pool area.
The bed is one of the best we have ever slept in, the mattress, linens and pillows made for a most comfortable sleep. Also to mention, the best a/c that cools without being loud and obnoxious.
Some, I see, have complained about the size of the room, it has more than enough room with a king bed, desk area, chair and even room to exercise ... we were happy.
All in all, it felt like coming home and that is more than what to expect from a hotel, and we thank you for having a room open for us under unusual circumstances. In two years, will return and we will be more than happy to stay here again. Also to mention Eric and Keko, as well as the woman (ugh forgot name) at the valet parking when we arrived...all great!
Our deluxe ocean view room was comfortably sized and thoughtfully designed with an efficient layout, large floor-to-ceiling windows, and a clean, modern bathroom that included a spacious shower/tub and a Japanese-style toilet. The balcony was also comfortably sized. It was a truly relaxing space.
Overall, we found the atmosphere at Halepuna calm and sophisticated. The pool area, in particular, is a highlight. It was not overly crowded, even though we were there on a weekend, and the poolside service was excellent.
However, I must address the one glaring flaw: the hotel's commitment to playing early-'90's smooth jazz in all common areas, including the pool and gym. It's as if they found a single CD from 1993 and decided that was the vibe for eternity. The music doesn't just set a mood; it actively haunts your soul. It's the kind of soundtrack that feels strategically chosen to repel anyone under the age of 50. I half-expected to see a contract on the wall stating that Kenny G and his soprano sax were the official, binding soundscape of the property...
That said, if you can mentally block out the relentless smooth-jazz invasion, everything else about this hotel is outstanding. If they ever update the playlist, this place will be flawless!!

The location is perfect, tucked away in a quiet corner with a back and front entrance to nearby shopping areas, restaurants and a small beach. The hotel does not charge a resort fee like others nearby. You can get a beach bag with towels from the front drive and take a short walk to the beach.
We booked a room facing the ocean with a small balcony and were pleased that we were able to watch the sunset from our room one evening when we were too tired to go out.
As a sister hotel to Halekulani, it was convenient to dine at House without a key and enjoy the live jazz bar at Lewer’s lounge.
It has a small infinity pool just right enough for the number of guests attending with an attentive bar and pool staff.
There is a self service laundry room near the pool area which was helpful to us to use while in the pool.
We did not get to try the restaurant (we did not get the breakfast option! But the bakery of Halekulani served good coffee with great baked goods.
We loved our stay at Halepuna and hope to return again.

"Hotel is amazing. Limited shade at the pool, even with umbrellas so bring sunscreen hat & noise cancelling AirPods for bad smoothjazz music"Read full review
