The Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort boasts a prime beachfront spot that guests adore, offering direct access to Waikiki Beach and nearby attractions. While the vibrant atmosphere with live music is celebrated, some travelers find it disrupts their peace. The hotel's amenities, including popular dining options like Duke's, receive high marks, as does the commendable service from the attentive staff. However, guests have called out the additional costs and noise disturbances as drawbacks. Despite this, the resort's cleanliness and striking views from the rooms are often highlighted as redeeming qualities.

We arrived on Sunday at 1:30am and were warmly greeted at the front desk by Grace. Hotel is perfectly situated on the strip, Kalakaua Avenue. Outrigger Beach is very clean; rooms are clean, and bed/pillows are comfortable. Housekeeping is excellent. We even had an ocean view from our city view room, just had to turn our head to the right. Our room was at the front of the hotel, so there was some noise from the bars across the street but nothing out of control. Not sure what time they shutdown but that was not a problem at all. Always slept well. Visited both Duke’s and Hula Grill for dinner. Both had excellent food and superior service. Amazing sunset view from the Hula Grill. Pool wasn’t the biggest but that’s what the ocean is for. No coral in the ocean directly in front of the hotel, so no need for water shoes. Plenty of shopping and eating steps from the hotel. We also used the car park for a few days with excellent service. Amazing stay and will return to this location or another Outrigger. Thank you for a great holiday.

I stayed at the Club Suite Oceanfront Diamond Head on the middle floor. All rooms had a view of Diamond Head, the ocean was right in front of me, and I could hear live music from the restaurant below during happy hour, so it was a wonderful environment. It faces the middle of Waikiki's main street, so it's a very convenient location. As for service, the quality of the bell desk was high. It was fast, reliable, efficient, and 5-star level. Also, the hot water in one of the two bathrooms stopped working on the third night, so when I contacted the front desk, the facility manager came right away. It was a malfunction and couldn't be fixed, but I thought the facility manager's response was quick and appropriate. Unfortunately, the quality of the housekeeping was low, and I complained to guest services by email during the stay, but I thought they were rude because they didn't reply. On the second day, none of the amenities were refilled, and the hair conditioner stuck to the wall was empty. The amenities were never refilled perfectly until the end. The amenities were shampoo, conditioner, and body soap in bottles stuck to the wall. Soap, body lotion, and vanity kit on the sink. We requested slippers and bathrobes. There was also coffee and a kettle. There were two water bottles so that you could fill your own water from the ice machine in the hallway, and a tote bag to take to the beach, which I thought was a nice touch. There were no options for breakfast in the club lounge, and it seemed like the selection was bare minimum, but the view from the lounge was amazing, so it didn't seem like they cared much about the quality. It was about the same price as the Halekulani, but other than the environment, I think it was an average 4-star hotel overall. I would stay in this room again.

This hotel is a great place to stay. Situated next door to the Moana, it has access to Waikiki beach great restaurants, shopping and helpful staff. We stayed in an oceanfront room which is absolute beachfront and with the door open you could hear the waves and enjoy unrestricted views of the beach, diamond head, sunsets and listen to music from Duke’s bar below each afternoon.
The room was a good size with 2 double beds and clean and quiet. The pool is small but a short walk down the beach provided the water we required. Dining at Dukes is always busy and we found the Hula restaurant upstairs a better option and less hectic however slightly more expensive.
We went to the Blue Note bar in the hotel for a show which was also amazing. The Outrigger Beach resort is central to everything and only a short walk to various quality shopping malls and also boutique shops. The activities desk were also helpful booking activities or making recommendations as well. There are washing machines and dryers but only half of them were working so had to wait. My only issue was the hotel lacked a business room where I could login and do some printing and scanning. This has to be done via reception. Otherwise we would happily stay here again.

Spent a week here and had an absolutely memorable time. Kudos to the Outrigger for having one of the friendliest staffs of any hotel I’ve stayed at. We are usually Marriott patrons, and the service we had here equaled or exceeded those properties. One standout was our housekeeper Brenda, who was friendly and attentive and went above and beyond to ensure my wife and I as well as our kids in a different room had everything we needed. The valet crew and the bell crew were also friendly and professional - all were truly a first class staff. The property has a few years on it but is clean and comfortable and in an amazing location - don’t miss breakfast at the Hula Grill, get there before 8 to get a waterfront table. My one complaint is the resort fees - they’re quite steep for the amenities that we used - the WiFi dropped often and aside from coffee in the room one morning and some pool towels here and there… the resort fees for two rooms for a week were a bit tough to swallow. However all in all a WONDERFUL stay and we will definitely return if we have a chance to get back to Oahu.

This is a great hotel in a great location, on the beach and walking distance to everything. We opted for an ocean view club room. Check in was a breeze, and the room was very nice. The room came with 2 reusable water bottles (there were plenty of cold water refill stations inside and outside) & a beach bag. The view was decent from the patio & the room was clean and comfortable. The pool was average but I preferred to be on the beach. If you are looking to rent an umbrella & 2 chars you can expect to pay around $100 per day. You will get a towel card upon check in which allows each person 2 towels at one time. I packed water shoes because I read somewhere that that you needed them for the water, I never had to use them. Beach and water was mostly sand, especially close to shore. February waters are refreshing and tolerable. If I had to guess around 75 ish degrees. ABC store are everywhere, including in the hotel, so don't over pack, buy what you need there. $12 can buy you a chair like blow up float if you just want to float your days away. Not a bad deal! They also sold snorkel gear, water shoes, SPF, Hawaiian shirts/dresses, and whatever else you might need.

As for the club level, you would have to evaluate your personal desires. I enjoyed that we could sit outside and have breakfast looking at the ocean with no rush. Breakfast foods were adequate but nothing special. Everyday the choices were close to the same. Evening happy hour offered a few cocktail choices (not an open bar) and a hand full of beers. The choices were adequate but if you have specific preferences you are out of luck. You can sit on the patio and watch the nightly band with a great view. Food choices were good. One night coconut shrimp was on the menu, we were so full from appetizers that we ended up canceling dinner reservations. I would recommend a later dinner reservations if you are going to take advantage of the happy hour. Side note- you could easily eat enough food to make it your dinner every night. There were 3-4 hot choices, fruit, salad, & soups each night.

Our hotel stay was exceptional, thanks to the friendly staff, including the bell desk, front desk, housekeeper, and restaurant personnel. The room was spacious and comfortable, although the balcony was somewhat small, which didn't bother us since we spent little time there. We appreciated the convenient location of Duke's restaurant within the hotel. An added bonus was the coin-operated laundromat by the pool, allowing us to do laundry before checking out. Note that drivers should be aware the hotel's sign is easy to overlook, located near the "Blue Note" sign, and be prepared for valet-only parking at $50 per day. Overall, we would definitely return.

In the past, we've not been all that impressed with the hotel rooms on our stays at various hotels on Waikiki - but we've never stayed here at Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort before. We've been coming to Waikiki for about 20 years and we've stayed multiple times at the Royal Hawaiian, the Moana Surfrider and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani - and we've enjoyed the stays . . . but the rooms themselves are just not up to snuff. Poorly designed spaces, weird temperature controls, odd housekeeping, ancient funk in need of updating . . . there might be a great common area, but the (quite expensive!) rooms where we've stayed aren't as nice as a business hotel in flyover country.

We've always kind of wondered about the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort (not a brand name we recognized, so we were hesitant to stay here) - we have been here for food and drinks since we started visiting the area, but only just now got around to biting the bullet and trying it out as a place to stay.

Wow, are we glad that we did. Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort had none of the issues of the other hotels - it wasn't inexpensive (of course; look where it's located), but it hit the mark for us. Great and comfy space in our ocean-view balcony room - not fancy or updated, but not dated or creepy. Smashing housekeeping service (bell desk and front desk folks were great, too) with lightning-fast room cleanings and not a thing less than perfect ever. Great amenities Great location. The bed was a comfortably firm foundation BUT had a thick, soft pillowtopper that wasn't great for my back; also, the room could have used more bedding (a supplemental comforter) in this cooler season. No robes or slippers were provided.

We're not talking about anything like a fancy place in Vegas with multiple marble bathrooms, but the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort gave us our best stay in all of our trips to Waikiki. (And I understand they're planning an update in 2025.) We plan to return.

The Outrigger Resort is in a fantastic location if you want to be right in the middle of the Waikiki strip. As soon as you step out of the resort, you’re surrounded by shops, restaurants, and lots of people—perfect if you enjoy a lively, bustling atmosphere.

The staff was friendly, and the service was good overall. However, the hotel itself feels a bit old and worn down. The rooms are outdated and could use a deep clean—they were quite dusty during our stay.

We traveled with kids, and while it was nice being on the beach, we ended up going to the beach at the beginning of the Waikiki strip, near the Outrigger Reef and Hilton. Those beaches were much better—cleaner, wider, and more family-friendly.

If you’re looking for a lively location and don’t mind the crowds, this is a good choice. However, if you prefer a nicer beach experience, especially with kids, I’d recommend staying closer to the start of the strip.

We will share this with our team as we prepare for renovations. Although we welcome families to our location year-round, we understand some may prefer a different strip of Waikiki beach. Love the Outrigger it's the second time we've stayed there and although it's a tad expensive the location is perfect. They cater well for travellers, with a guest laundry washers and dryers. Dukes restaurant is always buzzy and service is great. Step onto the beach or sit by the pool it has it all. We stayed in a basic room with Queen Bed but still had a little balcony and view of the beach. Complementary water bottles are great and places you can fill them with filtered water which is good. They also gave us two Outrigger Mugs with a lovely letter thanking us for staying with them and acknowledging us as Aussies. Nice touches! There's an ABC store downstairs where you can buy cheap food and alcohol if you're on a budget and loads of stores to investigate around the area.

Even though this Outrigger has been here for decades, we finally booked rooms for ourselves, our sons and their spouses during the Christmas week. Making reservations three months ahead for a large group is a must. Rates per night are costly as expected, but the hotel satisfied all our requests. Take note that the beach in front of the hotel is public. If you want to reserve an umbrella and chairs from the private company that is there on the beach, be there before 7:00 in the morning (which is no problem for (Easterners wide awake). Pay for several hours or book for $100 for you and your guests to enjoy the whole day. Hotel check-in and check-out are ideal, conveniently done at desk stations. Grace and Meeks were wonderful. We had gorgeous ocean view rooms, spacious and well-appointed and with a balcony. Many eateries and shops are located in the lobby. Coin-operated washers and dryers are available. The valet parking was the best, in and out fast! Jeff was our favorite valet there. Seriously consider the Outrigger if you want the Waikiki experience.
