The US Department of Defense owns and operates the Hale Koa and continues to take great care of this facility and keep it modern and well-cared for. Thank you!! We stayed here for 3 days and enjoyed our room, the view, and the Mongolian BBQ!
We had always thought about staying at the Hale Koa Hotel in Waikiki, Hi and finally saved up enough for a Hawaiian vacation. Our reservation process was very easy online. After a few days, we found we needed to add a couple of days on...More

You always run the risk of weather dictating the outcome of a planned excursion. I would stay a few days in Oahu, Hale Koa, then a few days at Kauai and a few on the Big Island. This is truly the only way to see all there is to see on these islands. Or a cruise is another option, but they are very expensive. The volcano alone is at least a 2 day tour to see it all. then you have all the falls to see there as well. And Kauai is beautiful just driving around the island. The beaches there have great on your own snorkeling.
Go left from the beach access toward the Outrigger Reef and you will find a small kiosk called the Steak Shack. $9 will get you a steak dinner that is enough for two people. Perfectly cooked steak, rice and small salad.
