Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa offers modern rooms and is lauded for its pristine conditions, but some guests have called out the pervasive noise, attributing it to local music and ongoing activities. While the hotel's amenities, including beach access and pools, earn rave reviews, there are remarks about overcrowding. Although the staff is often praised for attentiveness, opinions on value and service are split, with some finding the costs steep compared to the quality. The location is a highlight, situated conveniently close to Waikiki Beach and local attractions.

Review is only for the day pass. It was great. Instead of spending a day waiting to fly out at airport, we went here from 9 am till 5pm and enjoyed their pool and it was $80 Canadian. Pool is on rooftop. They have an adult only pool which we used for the day. Servers started at around 11am. Great drinks and fish tacos were lovely. Towels are provided. Didn't use any other facilities (except bathroom).

My family and I travel to Honolulu every year, and every year for the past three years we have chosen to stay at the Marriott Waikiki Beach. The pool areas are stunning, the rooms are clean, and the staff are friendly, the amenities are top notch. This year however we were so disappointed by two recent changes. First at check in you always received a complimentary Lei, which just really made the trip, your in Hawaii, what’s better ? They decided to no longer do leis, so you get nothing but a map at check in. Second, we were stunned to see that the pool deck had been changed into a restaurant so you can no longer sit in a lounge chair and enjoy the view of Waikiki. Infact, unless you book a table don’t plan on having any view of the beach from the pool deck it’s all blocked by tables. They also used to allow you to sit in their many fire pit areas in the evening, those are now blocked off and you can pay to book them if you want to use them- VERY DISAPPOINTING. Marriott should really consider changing it back, they have a great property but unless changed we will be booking a hotel that allows views of Waikiki from their pool deck.

Lobby looked nice, but their service is subpar. Checked in with no information on where things are located in the hotel. Seemed like the front desk staff was only interested in getting you to upgrade your room for extra fee. Room appeared nice when you walk in. You soon realize the mattresses are sunken, so old,  feels worse than laying in a cheap motel. Whats worst? The bed had silverfish bugs. The view from the balcony in the oceanfront room looks spectacular.. except you can't keep the blinds open most of the time unless you don't mind your neighbors seeing everything you're doing in your room.  And the noise from the street is so loud. If your room is next to ice machine room, then expect to be startled by the noise from the machine and the door slam. The restroom door and wall are semi see through. Not convenient if your traveling with friends. Expect to wait a long time for elevators.. very slow. They charged us valet parking instead of self parking, so be sure to check your receipt. Lastly, the front desk staff (think his name is Kevin) threw the receipt at us after we asked him to correct the parking fee.. will never stay at Marriott.

It was one of the worst experiences I've ever had! People at the front desk were rude! Throwing receipt at me, gave me a room with a TV that didn't work. I didn't complain about TV because I rarely use it. But on the last day at this hotel, I found a big silverfish bug!!! Disgusting!!! Luau, which costs $170, is ridiculous! It's not a buffet because they take away all the food after everyone took plates. They used kids in the show! Is this a talent show? Nonetheless, the host/main singer was amazing. She has a beautiful voice. Anyhow, everything would've been okay, even the bug if the guy at the front desk were polite. He just ruined my vacation! I wanted to give him a finger, but I didn't want to be someone just like him! I will never stay at Marriott again!

We LOVED our stay here! Granted, it was our first experience with a resort hotel. We LOVED the open air lobby, two nearby Starbucks, and an ABC store where we bough musubis daily for breakfast or snack for our kids. PROS: The towel vending machines were great! Not sure how they track returns but we never got charged by accident or anything. The complimentary beach chairs were a nice perk. The pool was a great option for our kids after a day on the beach. Our kids love swimming and it's hard to do that safely in the ocean so the pool was a nice option. It was also great to be able to order food poolside. The poolside seats were basic, not super comfortable, but it worked. We paid extra for an ocean "front" room as opposed to an ocean "view" room and we had an awesome view of the ocean. Our room was clean and our hall was quiet. We didn't really see or hear any of our neighbors at all. From time to time, you can hear other toilets flushing but that was pretty much it. We were on the 14th floor and were worried elevator wait times would be long but it was not bad at all. Our beds were made everyday and the cleaning lady even folded our personal blankets and set them aside nicely for us. The bathroom was updated. The bidet was a wonderful feature. And had plenty of towels for our family of four. We loved that the beach was right in front of the hotel in a less congested part of Waikiki. CONS: We expected lei greetings when we returned as advertised on their website but we never received it. We didn't push it only because we were attending the luau where we would received leis so that was a minor thing. The complimentrary Mai Tai's were hard to get. There were no instructions on how to get them so we had to do some investigating and found out that it was only served on certain days at specific times so we never got our Mai Tai's. Most reviews said that it would be loud from the street noise and they were not wrong. You hear everything on the street. You also get a different kind of crowd out there at night so it does get noisy. We were across from the Twin Fin hotel where they had live music every evening until 10 pm so we had free music whether we wanted it or not. The beds are regular sizes, not queen, like most double bed hotel rooms. But we made it work. The Kuhio Grill where a conventional breakfast was served daily is expensive. We paid $170 for our family of four for a normal breakfast. It's slightly bigger than other continental breakfasts but also, who can eat that much food to make its money worth? I know we didn't and we tried. Know that "ocean view" vs "ocean front" are different prices but not all that difference in experience. Our friends did the Ocean view room and we paid extra to get the ocean front and our views were not all that different. The way this hotel is built, you don't get a front-facing room unless you pay for the suits. Otherwise, all their rooms are sideways to the ocean so even an "ocean front" view is still a sideways view of the ocean NOT front-facing view. Staff was nice and we had no issues there. Overall, we LOVED our stay and did not regret staying in Waikiki in the Merriot specifically.

THIS MARRIOTT RUINED MY HONEYMOON!! I'm still upset about how poor our stay was and how terrible the hotel management was. We tried to make the best of it but it really ruined our entire time on the island. We spent more time arguing with the hotel management than being able to celebrate and enjoy our honeymoon. It keeps making me cry. I will never get a do over for my honeymoon and had I known before, I would have never, ever chosen to stay at this location. Clearly it is for families with young screaming babies and children and not for adults on a honeymoon and trying to relax. Prior: Came here for our honeymoon and we are still here. I'm really disappointed and upset with our stay. First room we were assigned, a baby screamed for an hour and a half each morning and due to the poor insulation in the doors between rooms, it sounded like it was in our room. After arguing with the front desk twice, they finally moved us by downgrading our room to a lower floor than what we paid for... then the new room had a toddler next door that screamed at 4am and started again at 6am.. we are on day 3 of this and I have yet to even be able to get any sleep on my honeymoon. Rooms are fine, hotel is nice but be prepared for the noise. Other reviews mention it but I really did not think we would have non stop screaming kids for our entire stay. They don't enforce Adult pool either so lots of young teenagers in the hot tub and adult pool.

I am a Titan Elite at Marriott. I travel A LOT. This hotel was a poor way to start our trip. It is run down and too spread out. You are always walking - and the walk isn't pretty. The room (an upgrade with a view of Diamond head) was in dire need of a renovation. Bathroom was tiny. There is NO water. This is just not acceptable in any hotel. Charge me if you must but offer bottled water in room. Marriott, I expect WAY more

I don’t know where to begin. Let me begin with Mr. Kenneth Bryant (I believe his was a manager). It was our first time coming to Hawaii and our 22nd wedding anniversary. Mr. Bryant went above and beyond to make sure we had a nice time. From telling us the best local spots to eat within walking distance, fun things to do, and an upgrade to a beautiful ocean front room before we even arrived! Even a bird came to visit us on the ledge. Lol! We were able to look down and clearly see the fire-knife dance from our room each night, and when Mr. Bryant found out we didn’t try the breakfast buffet he quickly provided complimentary vouchers! The Marriott is at the perfect location with the beach across the street, the zoo around the corner, Starbucks DOWNSTAIRS, and delicious places to eat and shop are all in walking distance! You can even walk to the mall if you want or just take a quick Uber. Thank you so much Mr. Bryant for making our stay special and thank you Marriott for still being my favorite place to stay! Aloha!
