Courtyard Waikiki Beach presents a modest atmosphere with its simple, yet well-placed accommodations, often applauded for their cleanliness. While guests have called out the hotel for its convenient location near the beach and local attractions, the rooms receive mixed reviews, being described as outdated and small, with noise and occasional cleanliness issues. This Marriott property offers large one bedroom room units at an affordable rate. The King bed/ bedroom with separate living room offers a good amount of space. If you are used to Marriott Timeshares, this type of room will feel comfortable. The room, as described on Marriott’s app, indicated silverware and plates would be available in the room, they were not. The sofa had stains

We requested a room change and staff were very hospitable and granted that change. Staff also accommodated a late check out (as is permitted pending Bon Voy elite status tier) without hesitation.

If you are a person who does not like a very small shower, make sure the room you reserve has a bathtub with a shower in your room. The ocean side king one bedroom has a tub/shower, but not the island side queen one bedroom units have very very very small showers.

The area, Kuhio Drive and Lewers is very busy. Currently all bars and nightclubs in Waikiki close at midnight, so it kind feels like that Meatloaf song…. All revved up and no place to go….

Mahalo to staff for a comfortable stay.

We started our Hawaii trip with three nights at the Courtyard Waikiki and it definitely met our needs and was in a good location for exploring O'ahu. It was by far the most reasonably priced hotel I found in Waikiki during our travel time.

When we checked in we were told our room was upgraded and I'd hate to see a regular room if that was the case. It was a tiny space, with just enough space on one side of the bed for my suitcase. My husband kept his suitcase by the desk and had to step around it each time he moved around the room. The shower was probably the tiniest I've ever been in. I think the mention of an "upgrade" raised our expectations a bit.

We had a mountain view and balcony that was great to watch the changing sky when the sun rose and set.

The staff was friendly and the valet's very quick to retrieve the car when we needed it.

One downside - when we requested new towels after two days some of the ones brought to us had stains on them. We realized just as we were showering before bed so we just used our beach towels we packed instead of calling down for replacements. I'm guessing their housekeeping staff has been downsized with COVID, but more attention to detail would be good. As a guest, be sure to check your towels before using them.

That bus sign Which I just now posted that the corner of Kuhio and Lihue. You can walk two blocks towards the beach from there to get to Kalakaua Avenue. Some of us use public transit. That’s why I posted the bus stop sign. There’s a IHOP right across the street from the Marriott courtyard. Cheesecake factory is on Kalakaua Avenue. They do DoorDash. So is that shaved ice place. What’s really cool about downtown Honolulu, are the Oahu ambassadors, Who wear light green uniforms. One woman in particular was very helpful. The shopkeeper’s and street sweepers Can be very helpful with walking directions for the jet-lagged tourist. I desperately needed updated beach wear, and Ross Dress for Less was the place. I found a perfect bathing suit, beach sandals, And Hawaiian suntan lotion For me. I saw lots of luxury stores. Didn’t find the time or energy for those! Waikiki beach was the first place for me to get to. Good thing I brought my beach blanket; lounge chair rentals start at $20 an hour.

My Wife and I recently stayed at The Courtyard Marriott for a 2 night stopover in Honolulu prior to returning to Australia and found the hotel a real disappointment. When we checked in we were advised we had been allocated a high floor room on the pool side of hotel but what we were not told is renovations were being carried out so our view was of the painters working on a swinging stage right outside our room. We had to keep our curtains closed at all times and the only ones to enjoy our balcony were the painters who used it for their lunch venue. The room was old and outdated with the smallest shower we have ever seen. What really surprised us was we were on the elite level of the hotel but anyone who has ever stayed at a Marriott property would realise there is nothing elite about what is provided here. My advice is if you are thinking of booking for your honeymoon or first trip to Hawaii stay somewhere else. We paid around 300 aud per night but for what we got would have been disappointed paying half that.

My husband and I stayed for 3 days at this Courtyard and had an AirBnB booked for the remaining 7 days to accommodate family flying in for our son's wedding. The morning we were supposed to check out and move to our AirBnB, which had been booked and paid for 6 months in advance, they canceled on us and gave no reason. AirBnB customer service was terrible and suggested we look for other AirBnB accommodations because they couldn't reach the host of the property. I then called downstairs to the front desk of this hotel in tears and spoke to Marissa. She immediately understood the urgency of the situation and searched for 3 rooms to hold for us. Waikiki was very busy and I know that she had to do some quick thinking to accommodate us. She was able to put my mind at ease right away and told me not to worry, that we, along with my 1 year old granddaughter, would have a place to stay. She then also advised the staff at the front desk of the situation so when I called downstairs again, the person who answered knew about everything so I didn't have to explain everything again. Between Suki, Marissa, Victoria, and Kayla, I felt like I was in great hands and everything would be ok. When they found out that one of the rooms was for the bride and groom, they even waived the upgrade fee as a gift.

This trip could have been catastrophic. If it wasn't for the Marriott staff here, we could have found ourselves homeless in Hawaii. From the Custodian to the Housekeepers and Front Desk staff, this Marriott consistently went above and beyond. Our family had an amazing experience, the wedding was beautiful, and we are loyal Marriott guests for life. Mahalo to this wonderful group of people. They know how 5 star customer service is done!

1. Rooms are musty, A/C was broken the vent was broken causing the air to blow directly on the bed.
2. Toilet ran constantly refilling every 10 min or so.
3. The whole fire alarm/ power outage was handled disastrously. Hostel personally did not reach out to guests to arrange alternative accommodations. I personally had to call and ask. Then we had to pack in the dark. I was assured a reservation has been sent to the new hotel ( it hadn’t). We had to frantically pack all of our things and get to the new hotel. All of our food in the refrigerator for our picnic was spoiled.

I had saved points specifically to redeem thru my credit card for theses accommodations. I have a $900 gift card. The line to get to the front desk was 10 people deep we were already wasting hours on one of our evenings in Hawaii so I was unable to check out using my gift card. The new hotel obviously won’t except my Marriott card.

I’ve been offered no compensation for the food lost the sleep lost the evening lost the transportation to the new hotel Or the massive inconvenience.

In talking to other guests they were offered compensation I’m not sure why that was selective or random.

I would appreciate someone contacting me immediately, fixing the billing issues so I can use my gift card compensating me for the night that was spent packing, or the sleepless night with alarms evacuation and no air-conditioning or power.

While I understand the situation was not necessarily under your control it was your hotel that had the malfunction and you should be reaching out to rectify the situation.

Thank you.

I stayed here a total of 17 days, a combination of working remotely and enjoying the sights and sounds of Waikiki.

My experience at the hotel was wonderful. Heidi and the staff provided excellent service throughout the whole trip. It had the basic amenities of a hotel at this level and at an affordable price. During the pandemic, they didn't service the room daily. However, you can request cleaning/room service ad hoc and they provided all of the amenities you needed (e.g. towels, shampoo, etc).

I think my only complaint was that the internet service the last few days of my trip slowed down quite a bit, to a point I could not really work in my room. Aside from that, the internet was quite fast.

Overall, I had an amazing stay and plan on being back.

While the location of this hotel is close to restaurants, beach and shopping for the price you pay, we were unsatisfied with a few things:
1. There was a strong smell of wet towels/pool water from the room. We asked to change the room, they moved us from 6th floor to 15th floor (executive members floor). Smell was better but not completely gone. Maybe it’s due to the humidity.
2. Being on the executive floor, the bathroom side mirror had hand prints, clearly shows the room wasn’t thoroughly cleaned. They clean rooms every 5th day, wasn’t too happy about this. 3rd day is acceptable but 5 days is a bit much.
3. Shower is small, if you’re a big person guaranteed you will not be able to move around or bend at all. Mind you, this is an executive member floor.
4. Parking fee is outrageous. $50/day. Valet staff was nice but if you’re in rush to head out, you have to wait for the valet to bring your car around so plan on waiting 5-10 mins, kind of frustrating. We did not tip them as much as we would have liked too because the parking fee was already too much!

The hotel appears clean but has a horribly musty smell. It’s humid and not well ventilated. We had a roach in our room called the front desk to let them know and they said they would change rooms for us but never did. Then when we went to go to sleep we found bedbugs in our bed we called down and were offered another room again but refused to sleep at the hotel over concern of bedbugs so we sat in the lobby till 5:30 AM when our Shuttle came. The front desk agent assured us we wouldn’t be charged since we hadn’t even slept in the room but they did charge us and when I called to dispute it they refused to reimburse the charge.

We have stayed here 3 times over the years and it is now a very tired looking hotel. There are signs of a lack of maintenance in many places e.g broken loungers, broken mortar around the pool area (cheap glue repair in spa), tape holding a dispenser in the bathroom (the list goes on). This is a real shame as this could be so much better.

Note to management - your exterior painters aren’t doing a great job. There were sections missed on our balcony which looks very poor.

The staff are very friendly and the rooms are clean, but this is now a very noisy hotel. There are a few reasons for this I could see. 1. The lift has a pointless tone as it goes up each floor and you hear this ALL night. 2. People seem to come and go all hours in the corridors and the rooms aren’t well insulated.

On a side note - the room we had booked had a kitchenette
- but no cutlery or plates which isn’t good.

I haven’t written this hotel off yet but I won’t stay here again until I saw an effort to address maintenance and noise.

If you book here, ask for a quiet room away from the lift (main hotel building), that may give you a night’s sleep.

Shouldn't be a problem. We did it. It wasn't for a half day but really don't see an issue. Best thing would be to get their direct number at their website and call them. I did that alot when reserving our rooms and having questions. They were great.
