The Surfjack hotel is a wonderful boutique hotel that lived up to all expectations and deserves its trip advisor rating. The accommodation is central, clean, modern and well appointed whilst at the same time maintaining its small and intimate boutique nature. However If you are...More

We loved the Surfjack from the moment we stepped foot on property. We arrived early not expecting to check in and Jordyn said we can proceed to our room. A wonderful and welcome surprise! Sai graciously helped us to our 2 bedroom suite.
Spent four days here. A few minor blemishes: doors slam, sharp bed frame corners catch unwary shins, must climb stairs to reach 10th floor suites. But the warm sweet character of this place reminds me of my youth when I would visit a dear old...More
We spent four days here in the past week and loved the hotel. The service is cheerful and helpful at all times, the rooms are spacious and well-appointed, and the location is near the center of Waikiki restaurants and attractions. Who could ask for much...More

The hotel is small compared to most Honolulu hotels and it doesn't aspire to be a resort. I personally found it frustrating that one or two families could take over the entire pool during the day, making it impossible to swim without navigating small children or to have any quiet time by the pool. "Boutique hotels" are typically targeting couples, younger travelers and empty nesters, and not families with children. I'm not sure why people choose these types of hotels, which is not a genre that caters to their needs, and then they demand that it be something different. Honolulu has many many options that cater to kids.
I would suggest calling the hotel to ask. They are very helpful. It isn't ocean front or fancy, but it's a very fun place that has local charm. The renovations are beautiful so it's very comfortable and the rooms are larger... More
I would suggest calling the hotel to ask. They are very helpful. It isn't ocean front or fancy, but it's a very fun place that has local charm. The renovations are beautiful so it's very comfortable and the rooms are larger than most Waikiki hotels. Also, the restaurant is the best.

We loved it (my DH and I shared one room and our grown son another) but it depends what type of honeymoon you have in mind. Suites are so comfy you might never leave; otoh the public spaces are small and the pool is small, so there will always be other people around. If you're a partying kind of honeymooner who will love the action of Waikiki, it's a great location. But it's not a deserted beach and watch the sunset kind of place. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
