The Plaza Hotel Honolulu Airport receives a mix of feedback. Guests commend the clean facilities and service, particularly the efficient shuttle, but some find the rooms outdated and noisy due to highway proximity. While the refreshed atmosphere and pool are highlights, opinions on value are less favorable, with criticisms of extra charges.
The location's convenience to the airport is appreciated, yet the noise and aesthetics receive negative comments. Amenities like the free shuttle and breakfast are popular, though improvements in breakfast space and clearer transportation information are suggested.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed at the Best Western The Plaza Hotel Honolulu Airport for a one-night stopover. Rose at the Front Desk was fantastic: efficient, professional, accommodating. Very convenient location both for the airport and, with the #20 bus stop right out front, Ala Moana Center and Waikiki. When I called with questions and requests prior to arrival, Debbie was helpful, as well. All of the staff were great, tbh.
The complimentary breakfast is terrific. The airport shuttle comes quite quickly when called.
The highway noise wasn’t an issue for me in room 628. As a former Manhattan resident, it’s no worse than average city noise. I reckon, though, that section of the Queen Liliuokalani Freeway H1 can’t possibly be THAT noisy between 21:00-07:00 under normal circumstances. Furthermore, earplugs and/or a sound conditioning app, like BetterSleep, SimplyRain, or SimplyNoise, on your device will sort you. Something like an Airinum Hale personal air purifier would do the trick, as well, now that I think of it. Regardless, if this would be a problem for you, request a room in the back of the high rise. Like I said, the staff is tops, They’ll look out.
The only reason why I didn’t give the Best Western The Plaza Hotel Honolulu Airport 5/5 stars is because it needs an update, including charging ports in the rooms. Not a dealbreaker for me, as I always bring my own. Still it would be appreciated and convenient.

We had a one night layover in Honolulu. We arrived at 3 AM so there was definitely no sense in driving down to Waikiki. The best Western was less than a five minute ride from the airport, the desk clerk was alert and awake upon our arrival at that early hour, and promptly let us in the front door, which they keep secured at night for security. A week before on our outbound trip we had stayed in Waikiki at the Hawaiian Hilton Village. I found the rooms at the best Western to be nicer, in better repair, and though some reviews have complained about the highway noise, considering that we just needed sleep for a layover, the white noise of the highway was much better than the thumping music and partying tourist noise of Waikiki. The beds were very comfortable, the toiletries provided in the bathroom were quite nice, the rooms have a small coffee bar, refrigerator, and microwave, and the immediate view out my window was of the warehouse area, it was still pretty to be able to see the downtown area in the mountains in the distance. As long as you are not booking this hotel for your vacation, this is a perfect location that I will use in the future when transiting through Honolulu.

This Best Western Plaza hotel has no "5 star prices"; only super clean, airport convenient, included "free" hot and cold breakfast with the best knowledgeable considerate and kind staff led by Rose. This lady is a true asset for the BW corporation. Kind, helpful, whatever requested follow up assured.
Everything supplied that is needed if only for 1 night or more and layover time close by a real asset. Within walking distance, gas station, McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, and more, all within 1 block.
Would absolutely stay again if on airline layover, long connections, or simply a little getaway
Look no further is you need a hotel close to HNL.

I reserved this hotel due to the proximity to the airport and guest reviews. I don’t know if they paid for these reviews or what, but they were inaccurate! This place is a dump. Upon arriving by uber, the place is situated under an overpass, and we were really disappointed by the hotel appearance and location. We waited in a long line to check in, because there was only 1 person for check in. The front desk lady was unfriendly, and when I asked if I got a high room with a pool view, as requested, she said no, all I have is the 7th floor, but it’s on the “quiet side” of the hotel. We went up to the room, and it wasn’t anything special for the price. The bed left me with sore neck muscles, which I’m still taking Tylenol for. The shower has very poor water pressure and didn’t keep the consistent water temperature.. I kept having to move the cold knob left or right to maintain the temperature. The hotel is very dumpy appearing, especially the pool area! I was really looking forward to the hot breakfast mentioned in the reviews..yes it was hot, but it was powdered eggs, potatoes were only available on 1 of the 2 days and they shut the juice machine off before the 9 am cutoff. The shuttle driver was also unfriendly and did not clarify which car rental agency we needed to go to. We did not know there are 2 enterprise car rental places in the airport area, but we felt he should have, as a local and a shuttle driver. He took us to the wrong one, and we had to uber to the right one. Check out was also a wait, because there was only 1 front desk girl again, until another girl came out from the back, still chewing, clearly eating in back, while people were waiting to check out. For the price of the rooms there, I would not return, because the whole stay was overall disappointing!!!

Mahalo for taking the time to share your feedback. We're genuinely sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We truly value our guests' comfort, and it's clear that we fell short in several areas during your stay. This was a fine hotel to stay at, the location was very near the airport and there are several car rental locations within 10 min walking. There was also a local bus stop nearby with buses that head to Waikiki and downtown Honolulu.
The staff was very professional and courteous, they are very approachable and will have good tips and advice for places to visit, from the front desk team to the house keeping crew they were all very nice and professional. If you are military and need help with PCS travel, Mr. Les is the best assistant I could have asked for.

The hotel is right next to a freeway and the door of your room reads the outside, so it is not soundproof. You can hear the car is driving by all night on the freeway. It sounded like we were sleeping at the Indy 500 race track. however, the breakfast is good. And if you happen to ask for extra bedding, they charge $40.

All services staffs very friendly and helpful professionals. Except the beds were uncomfortable for guests. We had 2 rooms for 5 days and they allowed us to check in early for $50 fee which was not bad at all. Free breakfast but have to pay parking $20-$40 per night. Best sign up for rewards membership to get the $20 discount for parking.

We only stayed here as we had a 9am flight the next day. The room was the most modern and spacious of the 3 hotels we stayed in during our trip. Everything in the room was nice and the air conditioning wasn't too loud. Luckily our room did not face the freeway, it was also Thanksgiving so traffic may have been lighter than usual.
The free shuttle was confusing, airport and hotel website have conflicting information. We walked to the end of the terminal, called the hotel and they sent the shuttle driver. To go back to the airport staff said the shuttle left on the hour or we could turn up 10 minutes before we wanted the shuttle. Unclear if the shuttle runs hourly or on demand or both.
The area around the hotel is dodgy. We originally planned on going to iHop but the only place open was McDonalds. Didn't feel safe during the 1 minute walk, would not have wanted to walk 5 minutes to iHop.

We flew in from Molokai the night before to catch a flight to the mainland the next day. We walked here from the inter-island terminal. We arrived at the hotel at about noon (too early to check in). We explained that we were early and asked if there was any way we could check in early but the staff said we could not check in ‘til 3pm. We did not have a car rental so we just sat down in the lobby for 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Finally, we went and asked if we could leave our suitcases with them while we went for a walk. They then told us we could check in if we wanted (it was about 2pm). But they saw us sitting there the whole time and didn’t make any effort to accommodate us knowing it was inconvenient to just be sitting there waiting!
The rooms are average and adequate. From the looks of it, a lot of airline employees stay here.
They have a nice pool which we used. There were a couple of places within walking distance that you could eat at so it wasn’t a bad location if you are simply in a “holding pattern” until getting to the airport the next day to fly home or another island. The area is mostly industrial/commercial. The breakfast room is quite lovely and the buffet is excellent. The free shuttle makes regular runs to the nearby Honolulu airport.

We had an unexpected layover in Honolulu and when Delta Airlines offered this hotel, I was suspicious. My experience with hotels near airports is mixed. BUT, this hotel was a welcome travel oasis. It isn’t just for HNL layovers. The hotel was filled with fun loving families, travelers to Pearl Harbor and beyond. Our room was quite, comfortable, and clean. We were without out luggage but the hotel provided toothbrushes and offered anything else we needed. The large breakfast room had good coffee and a nice selection of cold and hot self-service options. Another highlight was the proximity of the hotel to the airport. It was a very pleasant morning and rather than ride the shuttle we opted to walk the short distance to the Delta terminal (not having any luggage helped). I would definitely stay here again!

Unfortunately I do not have a sense of smell, so I can't help you.
There is no courtesy phone. The hotel number is on the reservation. You need to call it directly with your own phone.
About 20 to 25 minute cab ride, it is closer to the airport and Pearl Harbor.
