Location. Concerning hotels, the problem with Honolulu is that the great majority of them are concentrated in Waikiki. And concentration is indeed THE problem here. Waikiki is a ghetto, a fancy and expensive one but a ghetto nonetheless. Yet the area just outside of Waikiki is actually very pleasant: Kapi'olani beach park, Sans-sourcing beach, the park going toward Diamond Head,... More

As it is stated Otani is at the quiet side of Waikiki. Meaning less traveled and away from the tourist herd. Our room was small, and the bathroom could have been a little bigger. But lets face it folks who wants to hang out in a hotel room when you are in Oahu aka paradise. I must add that the... More

We were quite content here. The room was small, basic and the decor was dated, but it was clean, comfortable, quiet & everything worked. Our view was officially of the side of the next door condo (which was kind of neat seeing the lifestyle of some residents) but we lucked out and had a partial ocean view too. The Hau... More

We stayed here one night because we had a layover on our flight to Sydney. We didn't expect much... just a room to comfortably spend the night in near the beach. The rooms are very small and pretty run-down. This was not a surprise given the cost. What we were most disappointed with was the service. The hotel staff seem... More

We flew in for a quick 3-day trip and the Kaimana was recommended to us. I booked one of ther "moderate" rooms at a pretty reasonable rate. Front desk staff were very friendly, and sympathetic when the first room they assigned to us hadn't yet been cleaned :-/. Finally, we arrived in our room (beautiful Diamond Head view). Though on... My husband and I did A LOT of research on Hawaii before we left for our honeymoon in August 2012. We spared no expense and traveled for more than 24 hours to get to the islands so we wanted to be sure we had the perfect trip. I did a lot of research into the hotels in Honolulu and I... More

Fully agree that photos are deceiving: the room into which we were initially placed was smaller than would have been permitted by prisons in most states. The front desk manager was unfriendly to the point of being unwelcoming; true, I asked to be moved from the impossibly small, tacky, un-renovated noisy room on the 4th floor over the parking lot... Early in my Hawaiian trip I shattered my leg which required surgery. This Hotel was part of the last leg of my trip and by the time my wife and I arrived we hadn't seen much of anything outside of the hospital. When I arrived in my wheelchair, the manager upgraded my room to ocean view and they arranged to... More

Found this small hotel away from the crowds of Wakikiki. Peaceful surroundings, witha great beach without the crowds. Small lobby bar and oceanfront breakfast dining. Comfortable rooms with ocean views. I was on business , but felt like i was on vacation at a private resort.
