The Twin Fin hotel boasts a prime beachfront position that guests adore for its stunning ocean views and easy access to the beach, yet some reviewers express disappointment with the high resort fees and unexpected charges that they feel diminish the hotel's overall value. While the lively atmosphere is a highlight for many, with its Hawaiian music and sunset vistas, concerns are raised about the noise level from both the street and within the hotel.
Although the array of amenities is appreciated, opinions on room cleanliness and upkeep vary, and several guests have called out the outdated nature of the rooms and some hotel features. Service quality also seems to fluctuate, with some travelers encountering friendly staff, while others are met with less commendable service.

Detailed Reviews
It was difficult for us to find available and affordable accommodation for our group of six ( 3 couples). We managed to find three separate rooms at this hotel and were not disappointed with what we got. The hotel, while it feels a little outdated, was very tidy and in a great location very close to the beach and provided us with everything that we required for our 10 day stay in Oahu. The rooms were spacious enough with two having partial ocean views and one with Diamond Head views, on different levels. We were very happy after arriving early in the morning, that we were able to have early check in for two of the three rooms, which was fantastic for us and enabled us to stow our suitcases, freshen up quickly and explore. The third room was ready for us earlier also. The hotel has a swimming pool and a Tiki Bar/restaurant on the third floor and also breakfast cafe on one of the top floors. The hotel also offers free activities on certain days of the week like stargazing, hula and fire show etc which is great for families. We watched the hula,fire-show one evening which was fun. The hotel gives you two complimentary water bottles that you can fill up at water filter stations on the third and lobby floors. There are also ice machines on some floors and a little ABC store in the lobby to buy snacks. Although, there are ABC stores on every corner in Waikiki. Valet car-parking is also available. We found the hotel location to be ideal at the end of the Waikiki strip, near the zoo and the hotel is one of the closest to the beach and not a few blocks back like most hotels are. It can be a little noisy on the ocean front/partial ocean front side because you can hear the late night traffic ( cars and bikes racing) and the street cleaners and garbage trucks in the early morning but that’s to be expected. Many of the tour buses leave from outside the hotel or just down the street and the public bus to Ala Moana Shopping Centre was a block walk away. Nothing is too far away.
We were very satisfied with our stay

Hotel's Favourite
Hotel was unique, clean, safe, comfortable and in a great location. Our main objective was being by the water. The ocean was just across the street from the hotel, with nothing but the street between. That beach in particular is protected by breakwater, so that water was shallow and calm -- great for families with small children. However, surfing beaches were also available, a 5 minute walk in either direction. Also nice, as part of the resort fee, you can get a free surf board, boogie board, or beach chair loan for the day (other items as well). Sleeping rooms were great. Bathroom is small. Atmosphere was unique and fun.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
The location is great for this hotel, right across from the beach and in the heart of Waikiki and next to the zoo the other way. The elevators are floor locked and function a bit oddly, but it is otherwise a good hotel. Be aware, if you have a car, the valet parking pickup can take a long time in the early morning, so plan ahead. The reusable water bottles in the rooms are a nice touch and the gelato shop downstairs is very yummy! Rooms are fairly standard with a mix of old and new looks, price is mainly for location.

The state of our room on arrival was very poor. Floor was sticky, stain on the pillow and view out the window was underwhelming. We ended up switching rooms which was overall cleaner, although housekeeping did not clean out the fridge - old food from previous guests were still in there… resort fees ended up being $500 USD for 8 nights which was not worth the quality of the hotel, considering no breakfast included and

Okay, I just have to point out that I stayed here last September 2022 just before their renovation and name change from the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel. I originally booked a City View room and upgraded to an Ocean View Room which was on the top 25th floor with amazing views. I have stayed here several times since 2011 due to it's decent prices and awesome location at the bottom of Kalakaua Avenue directly across from Kuhio Beach Park. My room was lovely, very clean with some of the new Twin Fin look such as the bed, carpet and bedside tables. Although you usually don't get into your room until 2pm or 3pm I was in my room by 1pm which was wonderful since flights from Sydney get into Honolulu at 7.30am. The staff were very friendly especially the reception staff. I noticed a few changes such as the cabanas by the pool, the artist shop near the reception and the reception are and help desks looking more open. The views from my balcony were great especially up on the 25th floor, loved seeing the sunrises, sunsets and the Friday night fireworks. I was happy to see that Tiki's Bar & Grill are still going strong and Wolfgang Puck Express downstairs (awesome fish tacos). My only con about the hotel is that after checking into my room and keen for a shower and nap, when I went to switch the water from the bath tap to the showerhead water started to spray out the sides of the bath tap due to rust. I called reception and maintenance came up to my room straight away. It took nearly an hour to fix and I was exhausted still waiting for my shower and nap but hotel staff were very apologetic and they actually called or text me nearly every day during the week I stayed there to make sure everyone was okay and if I needed anything which I really appreciated, great service. My daughter and I are returned to The Twin Fin next week (29 August) and are excited to see the hotel's new look in person and be back in Waikiki.

I enjoyed my entire stay at the Twin Fin. Everyone is so nice and I appreciate they you get text messages from employees so if you have any questions you can just text them back and someone else will get back to you. I did the breakfast there daily and the food was so good. They have their menu and if you have kids they will scramble your eggs for them. I also loved the view everyday for breakfast at the top of the building, with breathtaking views. I also liked that you just walk across the street and you are already standing on the beach. What more do you want. I would come back to the Twin Fin. And if you have little ones, they let you rent out for free at the Beach Cady downstairs. You can rent 3 items per room and you get options (chair, umbrella, sand toys, buggy board, radio, volleyball, and surfboard). Your can pick any of these 3 items to rent out for the day for free 7am-5pm. I suggest going early and then taking the items to your room because they do run out fast. They also have a trolly for $5 a day per person that picks you up and drops you off throughout Oahu, its all day and ends at 8pm. This is great for exploring the city and then you take any trolly back and get back to the hotel. I want to shutout Amber, Michelle, Nicole, Heidi, and Aunty Velle for making our stay extra special. And to the cleaning crew as well, they are always around and ready to help you if you need anything. Thank you all :)

We booked this hotel for our honeymoon, and they recently changed their name from Aston Waikiki to The Twin Fin and is located at the end of Waikiki Beach, next to Honolulu Zoo. The reception area and the elevators to reach our rooms were always busy, yet the area was very quiet after 9pm (minus the wind, which is expected when you're right across the beach). The bathroom was on the older side, but clean and stocked with plenty of towels and basic amenities; the room was a comfortable size with a king size bed with a beautiful partial view of the ocean; we were given two free waters that were in reusable aluminum bottles with water filling stations on the reception/pool floor along with free reef-safe sunblock and towels for pool and beach use. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely stay here the next time we're in Oahu!

The room was basic but adequate. We visited during a particularly windy time so the patio door was shaking & whistling a lot. Definitely get a room with at least a partial ocean view - we could see Diamond Head & the ocean which was the best part of the room. The hotel could use some upgrades in the rooms - like better bedside tables with more storage, a chair, new paint, new patio doors that seal properly, & upgraded shower toiletries. However the amenities & package deals offered by the hotel, in addition to their Tiki Restaurant & prime location make up for the room being just meh. We did the drive & stay deal which included a rental car we picked up at the airport & valet parking included at the hotel - so that simplified our trip & was a good value. The hotel also offers free sunscreen, water bottle refills, beach towels, & 3 items a day from their beach rental shop. The location was easy to drive into/out of, & also walkable to plenty of shops & food places. Overall I would stay here again & recommend it to others looking for a good value for basic accommodations, but I hope they do some improvements in the future.

My daughter and I stayed in a Partial Ocean View with Two Double Beds on the 12th floor from 31 August until 8 September 2023. As always the Twin Finn (nee Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel) has a prime location at the bottom of Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki directly across the road from Kuhio Beach Park and the Waikiki Pier with one of many ABC Store and Starbucks on the corner, and the Honolulu Zoo around the corner on Kapahulu Avenue. Although our room was right next to the lifts we really didn't notice the noise of them. Our room was clean and comfy, and although this is after their big refurb you could tell a few things really just had a fresh coat of paint such as their old tv unit/drawers which they've had for the last 10 years or so but in saying that we did like the new look. We had a great view of the pool below from the 12th floor, the ocean in front of us and up Kalakaua Avenue. As always the staff were very friendly and helpful, and some days you'd get a text from Reception asking if everything was okay and if we needed anything which was nice. The room has a nice big Samsung tv, good shower, clean toilet, a few power points and USB ports near the bed which is great to charge your iPhone, iPad, etc and I love the Keurig coffee machine, wish we had them in Australia. All in all my daughter and I had a wonderful stay and would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you Twin Finn for your wonderful hospitality and aloha.

Booked eight nights last minute through West Jet Vacations at a great price with good value. The location could not be better and you get to wake up to the best view even with a partial ocean view. So many great restaurants and shopping near by. If you are a runner, it is right by Queen Kapiolani park which is an amazing flat ~ 3km loop that is perfect for training. The gym was small but had enough free weights to keep a routine. The hotel also offers unlimited beach towels and will safely store your bags on your last day at no charge if you have a red-eye flight. Just a heads up that there is a $60-ish per night resort fee that is due up front upon arrival to the hotel, which i believe is common these days but still caught some guests off guard.
The rooms were a bit outdated and dusty, but the bed and bathroom were decently clean, free of any staining on the bed upon inspection, and housekeeping and front desk staff were kind. There is a safe in the room that is a tad old and dirty but it worked. As others have said, the rooms definitely had “landlord special” upgrading and there were marks and stuff on the walls and furniture but you won’t be in your room enough to care. It had motel vibes, but a quick wipe with a lysol all over the room had me feeling better. I would stay again for the value and experience I had - your vacation is what you make it!
