Really enjoyed our stay at the Equus. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Had some interesting conversations with Puka who not only was helpful to me getting in and out of the hotel with my 9 foot surfboard but also made us happy to be back on Oahu. Mahalo Nui Loa, Paul and Keala
I had a very quick stay at The Equus while on a two day layover in Honolulu. The staff is incredibly friendly, you can count on them for all recommendations of best spots for breakfast, or which beach to go to. Linelle, Linette and Lincoln were super thoughtful and helpful. Thank you all, I hope to come back soon once the baby is out. :)
What can I say? The room was comfortable but a little dated. The bed was soft and comfortable as well. What pushed this place to 5 stars was the staff, Lincoln, and Colette at the front desk was amazing and knowledgeable about where to go, where to eat, and plenty of places within walking distance. The bar downstairs with Anita, and Sandy served top notch drinks with great conversation and personality. I dare say that I will be coming back anytime I’m in the area. It really felt like a secret hide away.
I reached out to the Reservation Team at The Equus over several weeks for a variety or reasons such as getting the military discounted rate to having them hold a package for me. Unfortunately, I was not able to get to Oahu as planned and again the reservation team were very understanding.
Very clean and comfortable- they made you feel right at home. Loved the outside lounge area. Rooms were large and had plenty of storage. Close to shopping, restaurants and beach. I will definitely stay again!
We had a brief two night stay at The Equus between visiting Kauai and traveling home. We were very pleased with the hotel as it has a very unique style and all the staff were incredibly friendly! We were especially pleased with how Kollete and Linda took the time to speak with us about their different experiences on the islands and the history of Hawaii. It was the perfect place to end our honeymoon! The only thing that I would say is that the front stairs into the hotel could be challenging to some people from an accessibility standpoint, however, I did not ask if there was an alternate way to enter the hotel. There was not an alternate listed from what I looked at on their website. This did not effect our stay, but I could see how it would for others.
The Equus and its excellent staff more than lived up to our expectations. The rooms and facilities were as good or better than advertised. We were in Honolulu for a medical procedure and the staff readily helped us with some unusual requests arising from our situation. We live on the Big Island and have made several short trips to Honolulu over the past year, but have been less than fully satisfied with our accommodations. We are delighted to have found Hotel Equus which is a great value in our view and will be our first choice for future excursions to Honolulu.
Staff are not just workers. They treat you like ohana. From the minute I checked in with Kollette to our welcome drink at the bar with Anita they immediately made us feel welcome. The rooms are quaint and the hotel itself has so much character. In the evening Matt at the bar really took the time to "talk story". In the evening, Renee at the front was caring enough to help secure our bikes we brought with us to ride so nobody steals them. The rooms were clean and Jackie and her housekeeping staff were very attentive to our needs. Overall, I was so impressed I won't stay anywhere else here in Waikiki. I dont want plush big marble and corporate....I want character, attention personal care and an environment where they call me by name....thats here at the Equus! Mahalo ohana for the wonderful experience. And Mahalo Mr Dailey for nurturing such a wonderful environment. Last family owned hotel and God willing it stays that way! …
A perfect spot for a staycation. Locally owned and operated, this hotel and its staff lives the spirit of Aloha. Anita, Matt and Aunty Collette are so personable, talk story all day kind, love their kindness and aloha. If you want to experience our island and people, highly recommend staying at The Equus Hotel. Itʻs a boutique hotel like no other in Waikiki. Itʻs a walk away from our Monk Seal enjoying ano afternoon nap and Ala Moana Hotel. Maikaʻi hemolele! Excellence at itʻs best. Mahalo piha Anita, Matt and Aunty Collette.
Nice clean hotel, friendly staff, rooms were clean, close to Waikiki beach. Nice having a fridge/freezer to keep drinks/food cold. Minimal parking, but staff were able to find close parking at a comparable rate. Only complaint was that housekeeping would come at 8am ~ wasn't expecting them to come so early
