We stopped here for lunch b/c of their sign that advertised Russian food. The restaurant is very quaint. There were 3 of us eating and we all had different things, 2 of which I can't remember or pronounce anyway haha but the food was outstanding! The Russian Stew pot was so flavorful and yummy! The borscht was wonderful, even tho...

We stopped here on the recommendation of someone in Valdez, and were quite happy. They have excellent Russian food, and the people working there are very nice and friendly. Not sure if it's because we're late in the season, but they closed for dinner at 6, so you need to make sure you get there early. Also heard they have...

Stopped in to check this place out back in May 2016 because i was curious about the Russian food & wanted to try something different...I was pleasantly transported back to how I remember Alaskan roadside lodges used to be-comfortable & inviting! The people who own & operate this historic place now are hard working & sincere. It only took me...

Rooms had little to no insulation between them. You could hear someone every time they peed or farted in the other room. Room appeared tidy but you could tell it had not been cleaned adequately. There were long black hairs in the shower and a soap bar the previous guest had used with hair on it as well. Previous guest...

I love this place! The Russian food is fantastic, the folks are friendly and welcoming and it has the vibe that you are welcome to hang out all day if you like...maybe watch some football... We took our kids for Friday night buffet last summer and it has quickly become a dining experience of legend for our family! I stop...

I stayed here for a guys wilderness weekend. I have always enjoyed the great food at Tonsina, and now I can say that I enjoyed a great weekend of rest and relaxation at the Tonsina River Lodge. First of all, Tonsina isn't your typical hotel. It is in the wilderness, but located just off the Richardson Highway at Mile 79....

As a result from my procrastination, we had a kayak trip out of Valdez booked but can't find any accommodation in Valdez. Well, weighing between sleeping in the car and stay somewhere away from Valdez, we found the Tonsina River Lodge and gave it a try. Turn out this was not a bad decision :-) The hotel is located about...

We spent one night at the Tonsina River Lodge on our driving trip. The rooms are very small and very basic, but we had a good nights sleep. It was a bit cold & rainy so the manager brought us a small electric heater for each room which was very nice. I enjoyed the Russian food which was very good,...

Stayed here 2 years ago and am currently planning a trip back to AK and wouldn't go there without a stop at the Tonsina River Lodge. Food is fantastic, staff and ownership are attenetive and caring. Lodging is very nice and clean. This is the interior of AK so don't be expecting the Hyatt. If you want the Hyatt go...
