I have stayed in some heritage hotels in Asia before, with rooms that are nicely furnished, ie. cozy, upmarket, and equipped with modern amenities. This is definitely not one of them. For around USD500 a night and armed with AAA four diamond rating, I would have expected the room to be of a higher standard and not so budget. The... More

First, I feel that it's only fair to disclose that we were upgraded from a different property to the Ahwahnee/ Majestic because of a power outage. The Ahwahnee has a generator/ backup power source and therefore was not impacted by the valley-wide outage. Which is something to note if you are traveling with any special needs. That said, we did... More

Travel in time empowered by the majesty of Yosemite National Park. Apart from a name change, little else differs at this historic hotel. The sense of nostalgia within the vast dining hall harks back to a grander time where dinner is an occasion of a scale equal to your surrounds. Bedrooms are simple and comfortable with modern facilities. This hotel... More

We stayed here as part of our tour of Yosemite. WOW...staying in the park makes life easy. This hotel is historic and has so much character. The grounds are spectacular. You can sit outside and enjoy a beverage and the view. There are walking paths on the property also. Our room was large with a comfortable bed. Bathroom small as... More

This is a very beautiful "grand dame" of hotels in an amazing spot. the views from the hotel and the rooms are awesome. The hotel is very "old school" and does not have all of the modern amenities. We stayed in the "Library Suite" (it was the only room available when we made our last minute reservation) which was originally... More

We stayed in one of the cabins behind the hotel. It was spacious, handicap accessible and only a short walk to the Merced River with magnificent scenery. The patio was very nice for having coffee in the morning. The distance from the hotel to the cabins is a little far, but the hotel staff is very service oriented and helped... More

Before booking a room at the Ahwahnee (temporarily "Majestic"), ask whether any special events are scheduled during your visit. My wife and I booked a room for 4 nights and were sorely disappointed when it turned out that we could not use the "Great Lounge" for the duration of our stay. The entire lounge and adjacent rooms were taken over... More

Hotel is in a great location, the staff is friendly, and the room was spacious. The room wasn't as clean as i had hoped. The food was marginal. Overall decent hotel considering the remote location. Would come back

What an incredible spot! My husband and I came here to celebrate our first anniversary as a married couple this past August; although he recently tore his achilles, we still enjoyed the beautiful views that surrounded the hotel, the rustic and vintage decor of the hotel, the incredibly nice staff and the bottle of Champagne sent to our hotel room... The hotel is conveniently located within the park where there is easy access to hiking trails. The hotel has a lot of history and you feel as if Teddy Roosevelt would walk around the corner at any time. We ate in the lovely dining room with huge windows that provided a view at every angle. The best part was waking... More
