Disappointed in this hotel that is supposed to be the best in the area. They couldn't find my reservation and said the person who normally handles them goes home at 5pm. I guess I came too early at 7:15pm. Had to find a new hotel...More

Nice and stylish boutique resort at very nice riverbank location next to small bridge with very scenic views of mountains.
Nice and helpful staff.
By Laos standard on the very pricy side, stretching value for money. Average breakfast given standard and room rate.

Yes, we took a private transfer from the Riverside to Luang Prabang. It was quite expensive and probably not worth it if I'm honest. The hotel were surprised that we wanted a private transfer when they offer a minibus service themselves. I'd go for this option instead as the journey time is not significantly reduced with a private transfer. It took about 7 hours door to door with a couple of quick stops on the way. The journey is beautiful and you see a lot of 'real' Laos along the way, and a lot of different geography from flat plains to windy mountain roads.
Honestly though, I'd take the hotel minibus over a private transfer. It will save you money and not take much longer.
