For anyone looking to be a bit away from the guesthouses and bars where all the young people are getting drunk, the Elephant Crossing is in a great spot just down the road along the river from the center of town and most of the commotion. The views form the upper floors is spectacular and a great vista to look...

The problem with Vang Vieng is the whole place is a bit of a backpacking touristy hole. So, compared to that, the Elephant Crossing is ok. But, compared to the other accommodation we had in Laos, it's really very expensive and not that great. The restaurant food is really not that nice (compare to the rest of Laos, where even...

Location is the best part of the hotel. Away from noisy bars and drunk Europeans, plus beautiful view from room and restaurant. Great patio for breakfast and dining. Rooms were dated and in need of some repair, no banket provided, there was a scratchy throw on the bed, but it provided no comfort or warmth. Internet didn't work in room,...

Stayed here for two nights in Vang Vieng, which has beautiful scenery but a town that is totally ruined by the drink and drug fuelled scantily clad trashy tourists that it attracts. The town is filled with British, Irish and Australian backpackers who walk around barefoot drinking large bottles of beerlao and wearing just board shorts or bikinis etc. Fortunately,...

The rooms here are very average and need some work. What a shame as the view from the balcony is amazing. We looked out over the river with all the limestone castes in the background - so beautiful. The garden restaurant was lovely and breakfast was very good and the staff very nice. Vang Vieng is just opening up to...

Stayed here on our trip to Laos. Described as basic in our tour guide. The room was not large and it is not the most luxurious but sitting on the balcony overlooking the river and the mountains behind made it a fantastic place to stay. Air con and bar fridge is all you need. Close to everything and a wonderful...

The hotel was well located, It wascomfortable enough, with a lovely river views. Perhaps we were spoiled by the much more expensive Residence Phou vVao (Much more expensive) that we had just stayed in in Luang Prabang). I suppose Wheatstate there again, but one needs to take this for what it is-in a quiet part of town, and fairly basic.

At 40 USD per night it was very good value. A great location right on the river with brilliant views of the rugged peaks beyond from the outdoor restaurant. The room was spacious, and clean, and the comfortable beds ensured a good nights sleep. Plentiful supply of hot water ehile showering and a good wifi connection. The staff were friendly...

My stay at this place was ruined by the fact it is completely infested by cockroaches. My first experience was of a giant 2 incher roach falling out of the air con unit when I switched it on. I then found small ones in the bathroom sink. Later on at night I came back to the room switched on the...
