Ngapali Beach (pronounced "NAH-polee" like Naples, Italy (or Florida...) is one of the best beaches we've been to on the planet. Soft, white, powdery sand. Swimming pool-clear water. This hotel (more like a resort) is on one of the best portions of the beach. No ricks. Sunset views. Walking distance from beach dining and massages (cheap!) just north of the hotel. Friendly staff (or course). They have their own security guys monitoring their own boardwalk and grounds (they really don't need it - Myanmar in general is super safe, especially at a laid-back beach). There are chairs and palapas on the beach. There are more chairs on their own "boardwalk" above the sand and shaded by huge sea grape trees. The beach-front restaurant features a full bar. Excellent breakfast spread with "Western" food as well as Burmese delights that change every day. Good place for lunch or dinner too, if you don't feel like venturing out. ATM on-site. Kayak rentals and snorkel trip booking right on the beach (cheap!). Tuk tuks right outside the resort will take you up and down the strip should you need something. The front desk staff helped us to tell a driver to bring us to a market that sold, in the same place: sun block, liquor, soft drinks, electrolyte packets, and more liquor. Front desk also booked us e-bikes for tooling around the area - very safe for driving. Resort grounds are lush with meandering pathways. We splurged and booked beach-facing bungalow - worth the money. Could watch the sunset from our own private porch. And we did! With liquor! From the market! It was a bit pricey, but supply/demand rules - there are only so many places on the beach! If you spent all the time to travel here, GET WHAT YOU CAME FOR AND PAY! The memories will last you a lifetime.…
My wife and I are relaxing at the Thande Beach Hotel! The fifth time we get well in Ngapali, we lived in Amata, Bay Villas, Jade Marina .... Therefore, there is something to compare! Thande, in our opinion, is undeservedly referred to as 3 *, everything is wonderful in the hotel: caring and friendly staff, delicious breakfasts, spacious and comfortable villas, own well-groomed territory, equipped beach with massive wooden sunbeds, thick mattresses and an unlimited number of beach towels! The hotel is located in the center of Ngapali beach! But for some reason no one writes about the most important feature of the hotel! At low tide, a magnificent rock garden, created by nature itself and not by Japanese comrades, arises in front of and to the right of it! A bewitching and solemn spectacle !!! A wonderful hotel, we will certainly return!…
I stayed with my friends the third time at this unique hotel. For us the best in Ngapali, the only hotel with llarge rooms facing directly the sea for a reasonable rate. The location is excellent and there is a comfortable access to the sea without scattered rocks like in the south part of Ngapalli. To the right of the hotel along the beach there are two very nice restaurants with excellent food and drinks. They also offer an happy hour. The rooms are spacious with one double and one single bed. We always book the beachfront rooms, but from the rooms in the second row one can see the sea as well. The breakfast is ok, one can sit outside and watch the sea. We also had dinner at the hotel and it was good. The staff is very friendly and helpful, our thanks goes to the whole team and the great cooperation during our stay. The complimentary bus transfer from the airport to the hotel was comfortable and on time. The hotel offers a very good and long happy hour with 50% on drinks till 7.p.m.…
The room was big, the beds hard but clean, the bathroom was the worst part of the room. The water in the bath was yellow/brown and had a strange smell. Also I got bitten from the bed or the sunbeds. We enjoyed the beach and went out of the hotel to eat. The New Year dinner was included in our booking (although we didn't know that and wonder how much we paid? )...it wasn't good, the food started too late, the entertainment was poor and the music so loud you couldn't even talk. Overall, we probably wouldn't book here again.
We had 6 nights here over Christmas. I picked it as a good value hotel on a nice area of the beach. We had a standard room at the back near the road and were warned about road noise but unless you wanted to lie in bed all day it wasn’t an issue. Everything closes down just after 10pm at night there isn’t much traffic after that. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, a couple on the beach and if you turn right out of the gates – our favourite was Golden Sea, we ate there three times. No bars as such. You can drink in the restaurants but it would have been nice if there had been a sports bar nearby for later on. Breakfast was outside next to the pool and there was plenty of choice. There are egg, pancake and waffle stations and lots of other hot and cold food. Other than breakfast we didn’t eat at the hotel. Other than one bottle of water we didn’t drink anything either – looking at the menu it was very expensive. There was a beach bar next door where the beer and cocktails were much cheaper. We are beach people so we didn’t need the pool but I think something might have been up with it. We never saw anyone in there and it looked very murky. Like perhaps the pump wasn’t working? Not an issue for us but I imagine it may have been for some people. There is a row of sunbeds on the beach and a row above on a walkway in front of the hotel. These ones at the back were pretty much in the shade so we had to make sure we were down at a reasonable time to get sunbeds on the beach (to my annoyance lots of people save sunbeds on the beach and then huddle up under the umbrella to keep out of the sun where there are plenty of beds in the shade and people who want the sun are out of luck). The hotel supplies beach towels and you can change them when you like. Our room was very nice. Good size although no real balcony. It was a little shabby but nothing that put us off. The bed was very hard, but comfortable. Good size bathroom with a decent shower. We tend to spend all day on the beach and all evening out at a restaurant so we don’t spend that much time in a room – this one was great for what we wanted and spending more on one nearer the beach would have been a waste of money. Check in and out were quick and efficient. Airport transfers are included. The staff generally were polite and friendly. We reported a bulb out on the bed side table the first night and it was never fixed but we didn’t have any other issues. Generally this was a great choice for our Christmas break. On trip advisor it’s listed as 3.5 stars. If you remember this and don’t expect it to be 5* you should be impressed.…
