We spent an incredibly happy 4 nights at Norwood. The gardens and view are amazing, the walks are spectacular (everyone in the tea estates and villages is so friendly!), the bungalow feels like home immediately and the food is truly some of the best you will get anywhere in the world. We did an especially memorable kayaking trip on their lake. Sanjaya and Ajith took amazing care of us and Chef is a maestro. Nothing can improve on the experience. You have to go! We can't wait to return.

I have traveled in many luxury and super luxury hotels around the world. I have to say that this is among the best experiences overall. Stunning views, delightful traditional colonial buildings very well preserved and maintained, peaceful atmosphere, super kind and careful staff, delicious food (and being in Sri Lanka this is not easy, I was at Amanwella as well and even there the food was pretty average). You will recharge body, spirit, and mind just enjoying the surroundings. A strong suggestion is to check if there are any festivals ongoing as this can create a bit of music that will ruin your experience (did not happen to me) To give you some examples of what they do to pamper you and how careful they are to any detail, we went for a trip to the tea factory and they placed a white towel on the seat of the jeep during our visit so that the seat did not become hot during the waiting time. Or, I asked if millefuelle was available as dessert, they told me no, but the last day they prepared it spontaneously as a surprise just for us. A special thanks to o gorgeous chef Ravichandran for the best food in the island and to Nilantha and the staff for all their kind attentions.

We stayed at the Tientsin bungalow for 2 nights in December. There are a lot of good hotels but this place is different. It is special. When you arrive you are told to make this your home. And we did. The bungalow is beautiful set in wonderful grounds. It is quite far from the other bungalows and it is tricky as there is construction work on the road but I would definitely say it is worth the effort and you just need to have that in your expectations. In the end we were really glad to have the further drive as we got to see more of the beautiful tea country and also see more of the villages and people than we would have done otherwise. Apart from the beauty what makes this place is the staff. Special thanks of course to Samantha and Singh and Chef! Also to the gardener whose name I apologise I don’t have who took me round his garden. Clearly a garden he loved. The staff must be working so hard and away from their families but you are made to feel they genuinely care for us and want us to have the best time. I had a leech on my foot and had no idea what to do. I pressed the magic room bell (which I was never that comfortable about using…) and problem solved calmly and kindly. On the last day our driver explained to us that a lot of staff have worked for the company for a long time and have been treated well (particularly during the pandemic) compared to other companies. I think that shows and the case in point was the gardener who had been looking after his garden for years. We stayed in a garden suite (were lucky to have been given an upgrade). It was spacious and comfortable and peaceful. This place is in the mountains so the pool is cool but the jacquzzi is wonderful. We played tennis (not Roland Garros but for a family knocking the ball around was great). My husband borrowed a mountain bike. We played billiards with cocktails. And we ate…. A lot has been said about the food and it is no exaggeration. Whether it is curry and rice or more European food. All is done to the highest quality and is delicious. We did the tea factory visit and Samantha arranged for us to have lunch at Dunkeld bungalow afterwards. That was great as it avoided being hungry on the drive back. My son used the pool there while we drank wine (and tea!). The view from that pool across the lake was beautiful. We also visited Somerville briefly before our float plane flight to the coast. Same warm welcome while we had coffee in the lounge and beautiful view across the lake. But for me , Tientsin had it hands down. And of course, by then, Tientsin was home…

We can recommend this hotel concept with full conviction. Especially in times of Corona, the small, very individual hotel complex is a dream. Service, cuisine, atmosphere. Every wish was read from our eyes. Special thanks to Saman (butler) and Chamara (culinary Chef). The cooking class was a pleasure and the boat tour with lunch was a highlight. A visit to the tea factory and a hike through the tea plantations round off the impression.

One of the best places I’ve ever stayed in. Staff is great: helpful, proactive, caring, extremely nice. You feel being cared for all the time. The views are incredible. The walking tours are engaging and picturesc. The rooms are authentic but at the same time seem recently renovated/very well kept So highly recommended
