When I first arrived at Kangaroo with my two friends, we loved it. It was a really cool place and relatively nice. Gary was so friendly and helpful with ideas for day trips and general advice. The food was pretty good. However, when we paid our tab at the end of the trip, we realized we spent ways more money...

I had a great stay at Kangaroo, everyone it seems ends up staying longer than initially planned, me included. Gary and Graciela are happy to point you in the right direction on activities, transport and anything else you need to know, the suggested day trips were great and used local transport, shops and guides which was a nice change. The...

Super great hotel with private rooms and dorms. Very cute and clean + the food from the restaurant is very good! Gary, Graciela and all the rest of the staff are very nice. Gary knows very well the region and is VERY helpful. He talks to all of the guests every night to know if they need help with their...

Three stars might be a bit on the generous side but the nice staff made up for what the hotel lacks. We made hasty reservations without a lot of research. I thought I could survive one night anywhere. The mangrove over which the hotel is set is lovely and calm but walking on the docks feels like taking your life...

I stayed here a long while back but currently trailing through my photos I thought I'd write a quick review. The owner Gary and his staff were great here. The food was top quality and beers at bar reasonable/well chilled. I stayed in dorm upstairs which has openings so Mosquito Nets are a must. Some were in need of repair...

The kangaroo lodge was very good to us. They picked us up in the middle of a rainstorm and helped us get settled. All of our gear got soaked, they helped us with extra towels and sheets since our gear soaked the bed as we unpacked and surveyed the damage. There bungalow was perfect for us. They were very sweet...

Hotel Kangaroo is beautifully located in a calm part of Rio Dulce. I travelled with my friend, and the first night we stayed in a bungalow for two. The toilet was nice and clean but lacks a door. The one Kningsize bed was comfortable but it was raining in a lot on the bed which made it uncomfortable to sleep....

Stayed here twice - once in the dorms: Spacious room at the top floor in the main house, a bit damaged mosquito covers, ok beds, fans to survive hot nights - once in the nicest bungalow with a king size bed, nice and pretty new bathroom (heads up: there's no door between the bathroom/WC and the bedroom). We enjoyed getting...

I had only planned staying for 2 nights, but Gazza (Gary) kept telling me of great places (day trips) nearby, I stayed 3 nights. The other staff are very friendly and helpful. The dorm is spacious, the beds were very comfortable and bathrooms well maintained. Multicultural, great tasting, food at reasonable prices. Besides the recommended day trips there is plenty...

Loved this hostel. The owners are very helpfull, very enthousiastic about the hot waterfalls and they were right! Lovely setting at the river, good food and good prices. It was great to wake up in the morning and sit at the lake watch all the birds. The dorm was really big and the toilet and bathroom was great!

“The bungalows were very nice if going as a couple I would definitely get one of those. I stayed in a single room, there are no windows just screens, they are still private but you will hear all the jungle noises and people.”
