This is the only hotel in the region and if you want to enjoy hiking in the beautiful Skaftafell National Park, great glacier walks and a magnificent zodiac ride in the iceberg lagoon then there is not much choice. Based on previous scary Tripadvisor reviews I was very apprehensive. Aside from the industrial, mobile home-like box exterior, the rooms are...

Very nice hotel, close to the national park and glacier. Glacier even behind the hotel. No shops nearby. Normal rooms, good breakfast. Expensive. Was occupied, but they put me on a waiting list, and I was lucky.

We stayed here because of the location - very convenient for the magnificent Skaftafell National Park. We were in a prefabricated block at the back of the site - a view of the mountains from the window, but it felt like we were on an oil-rig with a very industrial self-finished surface to the walls. No tea/ coffee in the...

A curious hotel with a fabulous outlook. The hotel features a very large reception area but the welcome was friendly and helpful. The room was simply furnished and outdated but comfortable and we had a great view, even from the ground floor. The bar is spartan and a bit like a social club, but the cocktails by Marco were great....

We first stayed here several years ago - then it seemed okay. However, now it does come across as being rather tired and dated and could honestly do with a serious upgrade. However, it is in a remote area close to glaciers. On our first visit we found the restaurant price to be outrageous but on this occasion there was...

My wife and I spent about $18,000 for a 10-day Iceland adventure with Nat’l Geographic. Our guides assured us that our accommodations were the best Iceland had to offer. Being in remote areas, most of our hotels, such as Fosshotel Skaftafell were situated in hamlets. For Icelanders, these hotels associated with tourist/hiking sites were above expectations. Compared to the U.S....

This hotel is in a remote area of Iceland. It's true that it is basic rather than luxury accommodation but in our view, that is what is to be expected in a remote area. My daughter left her coat behind and the receptionist Inge (who spoke fantastic English) could not have been more helpful in locating it and then coming...

So, arrived after a long drive from Skogar and this was the "superior" accomodation provided by "Nordic Visitor", the tour company who arranged it. Checked in, room was seriously basic, twin beds, rackety furniture, gideons bibles... Motel 1960. Wife went to restaurant reception and asked if we could have a drink... Caused some concern... Bar occupied with "special group", "maybe...

We stayed in this hotel one night during our tour around Iceland. It was a sudden pick, a kind of safe house, due to the weather conditions. Room with bathroom was OK. I would say the hotel is overpriced, may be due to the lack of other hotels in that area.

Hotel is in an outstanding location but does not live up to its surroundings. Rooms are very basic and reasonably clean. Single beds of only 2ft 6inches wide do not lend themselves to a comfortable night's sleep. The food is extremely expensive and not very good. Don't eat there! There is a transport cafe across the road which is cheaper...
