The Travelodge Ipswich Stowmarket Hotel is often praised for its clean, comfortable rooms, although some guests feel the decor could use an update, particularly in the bathrooms. Despite the additional cost for Wi-Fi, many find the hotel to offer good value. The staff's warm and helpful demeanor contributes to a generally positive atmosphere, even though the entrance and overall décor could benefit from a refresh. Its location strikes a balance between tranquility and convenience, nestled in a quiet area close to town and major transport links.

Booked in here for one night as a business overnight stay. The hotel itself is clean, tidy and well looked after. The staff are polite and helpful. The downside is that the place is isolated and appears to be in the middle of nowhere. I can only imagine that this is due to the fact that before the A14 was opened it would have been on the main road into Stowbridge. There is a Little Chef on the entrance but this is boarded up and covered in graffiti. So you find the hotel sandwiched between this and a lorry hire and tire company which isn't very welcoming.

There is no food available on or within walking distance so I opted to go to the local supermarket for my evening food and a few beers but there are some nice pubs around if you want something more catered. The 24-hour wifi is really cheap at £3 and worked well enough for me to watch Netflix.

Highly recommend this travel lodge. It's quiet, minimal noise with extremely relaxing surroundings. The staff member (paul) was very very polite, helpful, Informative and nothing was ever too much trouble for him. I've never been to this area so didn't know the location of anything but he was more than happy to help. The shopping centre, supermarkets and pubs/dining are all in a 5 minute drive away. Regarding the 'lack of towels' issue I've seen mentioned, there is a sign in the room which you hang on your door and they will provide more towels. The room was clean, comfortable and I would definitely stay again.

Clean, welcoming, great location, relaxing !! AND not just cat friendly but cat ecstatic by all accounts! It’s lovely for my little man! This is hotel is much much more than it says on the tin! I assume it’s one star only because of the fact they don’t offer any catering facilities but I cannot fathom why it is otherwise. Alright, the location APPEARS a little industrial at first glance due to the van hire place opposite and some sort of transport place outside but a quick wave to the drivers in the morning and it starts to feel like home. Alas all is not lost though, a quick walk over the road actually takes you on a lovely walk to the village of Haughley, which is beautifully quaint with a lovely pub called the Kings Arms. There seems to be a lot of people staying here as they are working away from home, but for us to we have been here two weeks and have booked a further two weeks whilst we look for a house in the area. The staff are absolutely fantastic and it’s not that one person doesn’t stand out, it’s just that I cannot pick who has been the most helpful, friendly and welcoming member of staff (shamefully, in this instance, I am also terrible with names and I don’t want to name one person without the others!!! I also don’t want to call anyone the wrong name 😂!)
I have disclosed some health issues which have been received with kindness and understanding and I would say they have gone above and beyond to ensure that I enjoy my stay here and I can’t thank them enough! What a lovely environment to be in! I hope they get the acknowledgement they deserve as so often this sort of thing goes down as “customer service” and actually for me it has been much much more than that. As someone who often feels vulnerable in new environments, I have not felt that way here and that is a testament to the wonderful, kind and genuine staff members! Thank you so much for making life a little bit easier! 💕

We had driven all the way from Bristol, so were in no position sadly to find somewhere else at short notice and we were only staying 3 days, but if we had known what the poor, terrible state of location this 'Motel', is in, we would NEVER of stayed and NEVER will again!
1. The motel is right next to the motorway, so can hear traffic of course.
2. The Little Chief that is still road signed, is long gone, building empty some time.
3. The motel is next door (lane in between) to a lorry/van/heavy goods vehicle maintenance garage, so full of buses, trucks, vans, etc, etc. Even they are using the motel and former Little Chiefs car park for their work!

The place looks terrible, I would NOT recommend this location for accommodation to anybody and Travelodge management should be totally a shamed with themselves for being based here and charging people good money!

The motel once inside is just like any other Travelodge to be fair, staff were friendly enough, but again this Travelodge lacks a good regular clean in rooms and bathrooms, if you stay look in areas, you will understand what i mean, not just a quick 5 minutes clean and move onto another room, which is clearly what's happening here! We were face masks due to the risk of Covid-19, but many other quests did not and staff did not challenge them!

Strange location for this hotel, sort of hidden from view (at least at night) by a goods yard which is overlooked by the rooms at the front of the hotel with a closed-down Little Chef next door.

It's one of those classic Travelodge buildings, so a basic layout but nice sized rooms. Lots of original features(!) such as the plasticky blue door handles, old fashioned key etc, but also looked like the important things had at least been relatively recently redecorated/carpeted so everything seemed clean.

My room only had a bed and had a comically large double-bed-sized space where the sofa bed used to be. The space was so large you could probably do a yoga class there.

Service at the 24 hour reception was good and my room was at the back and overlooked some fields. Had a good night sleep which was the main thing, but I did feel at £85 the room was extremely overpriced considering the bleak location and the basic facilities. Just about gets a 3/5 for fulfilling its basic function of being a decent bed to sleep.

The room was surprisingly big, everything was clean and the bed was nice and cushy. For the price I think the available facilities were great - as someone whose used to staying more city locations, a bath was greatly appreciated.

People have commented on the décor being outdated, but I think that though a little old, it is not shabby and wears the years well, plus the light refurbishments on the rooms coupled to the price make you not really feel it.

The staff for their part were also very good. A big shout out to Wendy who was extremely friendly and receptive.

Location-wise, it was a perfect base to go out into Suffolk from.

Great staff are really let down by Travelodge here. The hotel is clean and staff are friendly and helpful. The vending machine isn't well stocked.

We paid for breakfast and WiFi for the 2 nights we stayed. We were told after booking that the breakfast is a box of cold items and not a hot cooked one. The WiFi has a devuce limit of 2 so we had to buy extra data to tether on my phone.

Good staff but obvious poor investment and customer journey design by Travelodge.

I’ve watched enough prison documentaries to know that cells are better equipped. Place is falling apart. My door didn’t lock, the bath filled up when you had a shower, toilet didn’t flush, remote didn’t work, pillows are like sleeping on rocks, carpet looked older than me and like it was allergic to the hoover because that thing hasn’t been cleaned since it was layed. The plus sockets you can’t actually fit a plug in because it’s too close to the fixed desk that can’t be moved. No plus sockets near the beds which is just a pet hate of mine but you can forgive that. What I can’t forgive is the fact that there we’re dead flies in the bed, I know I’m single and tinders not really working out for me, but a group of dead flies wasn’t really what I thought I’d be sharing my bed with. There’s never any staff always just a sign plonked on reception saying they would be back soon meaning I couldn’t even complain and get moved rooms, but then to be honest I think the whole place would have been the same. It needs knocking down and pretending it never existed. It’s not even like I paid £20 a night - you’d expect it to be rough then, but at £85 a night I at least expected a door that locked and to have a toilet that flushed. Just avoid it, camp on the road in a tent if you have to, genuinely would be a better experience

The hotel sits outside Stowmarket by a sorry looking old Little Chef which closed many years ago and to the front is a van and truck repair shop. Please note I have never suffered from lorry or van noise while staying there. The nearest shop is the Spar which is a short drive away or a 10 minute walk. To visit Stowmarket you will need to drive
The hotel is an old Travelodge so does not have a restaurant or bar. Overall it is a good old hotel but could do with a refresh

I've known of this travelodge for over 30 years as I grew up in this area and watched it being built! I've stayed here many times in the past as it's so accessible and close to my parents. It's always super clean, warm and the staff are always welcoming.
For this visit the staff went above and beyond. My fault entirely that I'd booked for myself and my daughter and forgot to request a family room with a separate bed.
Complete teenage melt down averted by Dave as he so very kindly and without hesitation swapped us to said family room. Thank you so much.
Please be aware that when you stay here, since the A14 has literally been moved half a mile to the left, the travel lodge no longer sits right on it.
However it's still really easy to get to from the Stowmarket junction and by being away from the A14, it's really peaceful.
There are no restaurant facilities here or the little chef which once stood proudly next to the building!! However, Stowmarket is literally a hop skip and a jump if you turn right and then Bury is only 15 mins up the A14. We always bring our own milk and cereals to tide the tribe over until we can get to a macdonald's (there is one off the next junction down heading towards Ipswich!) There are tea and coffee making facilities which are topped up regularly.
But it really is the front of house and domestic staff who make this place!!
