I got a beautiful suite, with a gorgeous four poster bed, an en suite bathroom that as spacious with lovely shower and jacuzzi style bath, a huge cable tv, and a balcony overlooking the pool. Retreat Guesthouse is comfortable, tastefully furnished, (I'm gonna pinch some of the ideas for soft furnishings in my own house) and Mrs Grant the proprietor is a treasure. A warm, dynamic woman who knows how to make a guest comfortable. The food was lovely, there's beautiful art by local artists on the walls, and as a female travelling on my own, who doesn't drive, they had a small shuttle type service that dropped you off at the luxury express coach station a 10 minute drive away for about ÂŁ6.
From the coach station, coaches zipped along to the key Jamaican tourist locations in air conditioned comfort. So Retreat Heights is a good place to stay transport wise.
I would DEFINITELY stay there again any time I visited Jamaica.
Greeted with a warm welcome then ushered to our immaculate rooms it was easy to settle into the well prepared environment. Waking up to the greenest of scenery the retreat guest house oozes profound tones of peace and tranquility. Boasting amazing views of mountains, sea, outdoor pool, bar and recreation area makes this the perfect get away. Everything I needed was right there.
The staff are polite, friendly, caring and will go out of their way to enure your needs are met
The sea is a 5 minute drive away and the town about 15 which is excellent. Also available close by is the Knucksford Express coach that is a very pleasant form of transport . This drives through ( and stops at) Negril- Falmouth- Ochi Rios- Kingston.
Authentic cuisine from the Island can be expected as the owner comes from a successful chef back ground. Expect a great trip when you visit. It won't be a matter of if you return but when. I can not wait to.
"No problem!"
If you like the area, stay at Fisherman's Inn on Glistening waters. You can walk to beaches and Gloria's bar and food down the street is what Jamaica is about. FIREBUN retreat guesthouse!!!!!!!!!!

The room was clean, fairly spacious, and the view was great. The pool was welcome, and we haven't watched TV for 3 weeks!
It is hot though! So be sure to ask for the a/c if you need it!
Free continental breakfast is also included - toast and fruit, and they work around special requests - we like coffee early!

I'm not entirely sure why people have deiced to give negative feedback on this Guesthouse and can only assume they were unfamiliar with the area, were looking for a either a hedonistic, dance-hall inspired holiday or just didn't understand what this Guesthouse is about???
Retreat Guesthouse is exactly what is says in the title, its a RETREAT, a secret hideaway where you can escape the hustle and bustle of Jamaica's over populated tourist spots Montego Bay and Ocho Rios but its location between the two parishes makes it close enough to still drive into to get some of the action when needed!i
Falmouth is a small developing parish NOT in the middle of nowhere but neatly located in between Montego Bay and Oho Rios making it an idyllic oasis for honeymooners, couples and families.
The owner is a COMPLETE angel, she did everything in her power to make us feel at home, feeding us AMAZING home cooked traditional Jamaican food on a daily basis at very reasonable prices and providing a shuttle service to and from the beach or into town whenever we felt the need.
The website and pictures of the hotel are EXACTLY as they are shown and are no way misleading (see my personal pictures attached) .
The rooms are spacious, clean and all have there own closets, en suite bathrooms, satellite TV and ceiling fans.
If you are looking for a tropical getaway then Retreat Guesthouse is for you!!
PLEASE DON'T LET THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS PUT YOU OFF!!
We did not feel safe at all plus after dinner one basically had to go to sleep as it seemed everything was shut down by 8 pm. We made the mistake of asking for some hot tea upon arrival to the Retreat which they gave to us in a covered bowl of sugar only to our dismay when we lifted the bowl ....we saw ants running away!
The business phone is also the "managers" cell phone #. Bottom line, when we got there we wanted to leave as this is not where we wanted to spend the rest of our vacation. BEWARE of booking this place. If you made a mistake and booked it the "manager" will not return your money for the time you did not stay.
Please note when we stayed we found out this place is not approved by the Jamaican Tourist Board for guests. (We found this out the hard way, as we spent a portion of our vacation trying to get some money back and had to go to the Jamaican Tourist Board plus the police station however the "manager" refuses to give any money (We told her to take the money for the time spent and the cancellation fee and just return a portion however she still refuses.
In the end we left this place and went elsewhere and had a fabulous time in Jamaica despite the above.
