Detailed Reviews
People who choose to stay in those fancy all-inclusive places are really missing out on a true Jamaican experience. Richard is THE greatest host EVER! The place was perfect- plenty of room, very clean and safe. Richard drove us around or arranged for a driver - we saw all that Jamaica had to offer! Highly recommend!

We spend one night at the Pura Vida Guesthouse, it was really nice. The host Richard is really cool and the room was clean and comfortable. It's out of the big city, so quiet. I will highly recommend this place!!!

My wife and I visited this place earlier this week. Its a very nice place to stay and the owner Richard is a true gent. He showed us around and took us on a trip to the Glistening Waters.... a glowing lagoon just outside Falmouth. He could not do enough to make our visit to Falmouth a good one and went above what you would expect from a property owner. The accommodation was excellent and clean. One thing I must point out is that this place is outside Falmouth in the community of Hague, about a mile and a half from Falmouth, do not let this put you off as you can get in a route taxi to go into Falmouth at little cost (About 70 pence into Falmouth and 85 pence out to Hague) there are two local bars in Hague and more on the back road to Martha Brae River. Some of the maps show that the property is in Falmouth so do take heed of this. Regardless of this I strongly recommend this place as a base to stay in Falmouth. I will return, as you will too!!.

Can only re-iterate what other reviewers have stated. I had a great apartment and owners were really helpful. The pretty-wild garden of Pura Vida is great for birdwatchers with a number of endemic species present.
If arriving by car then, to get to Pura Vida, take the turn off from the Falmouth Bypass that is opposite Eatons Pepper Factory. Turn left at the junction. Follow this road, passing a bar/restaurant on the left, to first major right turn. You will notice a very large yellow building up ahead on hillside maybe 1km away. Pura Vida is located just before this within yellow walls. For those with GPS the co-ordinates are 18 28 12N 77 38 25W.

We stayed for two nights with Richard and Nikki-they are the perfect host couple and got us to Martha Brae, Luminous Lagoon and an authentic night out in Falmouth with typical food with locals. This home is very nice and clean and has what you need. We enjoyed the breakfast they cheerfully brought to us both mornings! We will return if we are lucky enough to get to Jamaica again!

This place had a lovely view. The room was well lite. The bathroom was great. The Jacuzzi tub open shower with the spa option. I loved the quietness. Richard was very nice and welcoming. This was a nice place to stay. It is not directly in Falmouth is about 5 minutes away. The owners are really nice people and very accommodating. I stayed here for a night due to flight times and I could not check in to the royalton early, but it was great. If you need a place to stay in the falmouth area for a night or 2 this was a good place!

The neighborhood is definitely local. Finding the place was a little difficult, our GPS didn't map the street names properly and the street sign on the corner says it's a different street (perhaps its turned around?). Basically look for the yellow wall on the street halfway up the hill. Make sure you call ahead the day of and let Richard know when you will arrive. We missed him and were greated by a neighbor, Paulette who was very nice.
We did not expect the place to be a furnished apartment, so this was a nice surprise. We stayed on the ground floor/basement and it is simply furnished but nicely so (the mid century modern table is a piece of art). We did get to see the upstairs flat and it was very nice and modern. I look forward to coming back with a larger group.
I cannot emphasize how awesome of a host Richard is. Richard is a super super nice guy and I highly recommend taking the time to chat with him. He brought us local breakfast every morning and it was DELICIOUS (not included in price but super reasonable). Richard offered to take us a few places and we missed out for various reasons of our own but I am sure they would have been great experiences.
I was kind of skeptical of Falmouth but after the boats leave in the afternoon the local nightlife comes alive. We generally avoided areas that were filled with guys (no woman no cry right?) but ate street food in the town center and had a good time milling about. There are friendly tour guides who are there to help you. During the day the boats are in and the vendors tended to get annoying with constant attention getting but were polite and would leave you alone.
The wifi is cell based and the bandwidth was pretty low but good enough for email. The taxi in an out of falmouth is $100JMD, super cheap and an "interesting" experience.

We stayed at Pura Vida only one night and we regretted not to have stayed longer...
The room downstairs is immense and equipped with a full kitchen and living room. There is a big garden with a wonderful ackee tree in front of the room and by night is really silent. Richard, the host, really welcomed us and made us discovery the street food at Falmouth and was so kind to take us the lagoon for our excursion to see the glistening waters. Recommended!
