Having stayed at 5 different two and three star hotels over 10 days in Uruguay all of which were fine, I booked this as a bit of luxury for our last night, mainly so we could use the restaurant in the hotel after driving cross country all day. Disappointing to be told on arrival that the restaurant was not open on Sunday night. No apology offered, I was told there were 'lots' of restaurants in Durazno. There are not. Thankfully we found one, next to the bus station. Hotel is nicely put together, spacious in faux colonial style. Rooms clean etc. Staff non-smiling and surly. Breakfast was the worst we had in our whole stay in the country. The coffee was thick treacly black, and completely undrinkable. They only had skimmed milk that tasted like water. A few stale pastries some processed packet cheeses and ham. Self service. No hot food or eggs available. It seems the hotel relies on its design and lack of competition for its four star rating. Expensive and disappointing service. WiFi also patchy at best.

Me and my girlfriend spend some days in this hotel during march. There are no more attractions nearby, so the plan was just relaxing in the swimming pool. Things to bare in mind: 1) our room wasn't ready at checkin time 2) pool facilities weren't enough: there are only 8 lounge chairs and half beach umbrellas and the hotel capacity is not for 8 people for sure. Therefore, if you are not the kind of people who wakes up at 7 am just to save a spot for all your mates while they get up, have breakfast and so for, you will end up under the heavy sun all day long. 3) wifi doesn't work in rooms and barely works on the main entrance. I had to cancel a video conference since there wasn't any spot in the hotel with enough speed for that 4) breakfast was pretty disappointing too. No fresh fruit, no clean cutlery, and waitress in a bad mood 5) hotel restaurant is good, but really expensive. I highly recommend eating in durazno restaurants (look for "Raices" restaurant in trip advisor) 6) staff is friendly but not clever enough. We asked them for solutions to our problems and they weren't able to provide basic solutions All in all, I would NOT go again! Hope this review is of some help

Spent 3 nights here, lovely rooms, quaint, like going back in time. Restaurant and food is excellent Staff went the extra mile to help in every way. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area for whatever reason. Special thanks to Gonzalo for sending on items left by one our group. Very impressive service.

A 4 * hotel in the country side, lovely situation, beautifull building, perfect modern decoration, you will feel very well in this place and would like to stay longer. Rooms are modern with all amenities and the pool is really nice. Towels are available by the pool. The lobby is huge with nice sofas, with a lot of books that invite you to stay and relax. Leaving the room is at 12 am very unusual in Uruguay. The modern restaurant offers a variety of good food and wines. Ice cream is available. Unfortunately they do not use the parrilla every day and we had no chance to enjoy it. Breakfast is average, we would enjoy a little hot, sausage and scrambled eggs, for exemple. I definitely recommend the place for the beauty and confort.

I find it a very interesting place to stay at because it is not inside the city, nor far away. Surrounded by a natural environment and an excellent resturant with delicious and well prepared food and drinks.

A little outside of Durazno, this hotel is your best option, and it is a good one. I was impressed with a generously sized and beautiful and authentically designed lobby. My room was spacious and functional, though by far less attractive than suggested by the common facilities. Breakfast was a disappointment. The outside facilities are nice, the pool is a must-see at night. The extensive grass area behind the hotel can be used for runs, given that the hotel has no gym and running along the road not a safe option. Service was friendly and attentive throughout. A quite good price-to-value proposition. I would not hesitate to return.

Located out of the town, in a quiet and peaceful ag area. Clean rooms and common areas. Good internet signal strength. Dutiful and efficient host/owner. TV channel selection poor for English speakers, and the screens are small. While the hotel is not fancy, it has attached a very, very good restaurant. Certainly the best choice of hotel for Durazno and for many miles around.

I have stayed in this hotel several times, the latest being in May 2014. It is a nice hotel with decent service and good standard rooms. It is a pleasant, convenient place to stay. The rooms are clean and the bathroom is well equipped. As noted by others, a noise problem appears to stem from the rooms' entrance door either being too tight for the frame or the lock mechanism is too tight. Anyway the door has to be banged to close. Breakfast is in the adjourning restaurant. The breakfast is adequate. The coffee is good. The restaurant cooking area is an open grill barbecue style. Additional dishes can be ordered from the restaurant kitchen. I would recommend the hotel and if the need arises I would stay here again

Unfortunately, because it is a nice hotel with decent service and good standard rooms, I could not help but downgrade it in my evaluation because I slept fitfully due to constant noise from slamming doors and people talking loudly in the hallway until about 2 am and then again as of 6 am. The problem stems from the rooms' doors neither being custom fit into the frame nor thick enough, and people being completely oblivious and heedless. Therefore my suggestion: If you want peaceful sleep, bring earplugs. Other than that it is nice, convenient place to stay when in the area. It also has a restaurant with good food and a warm fire on winter nights.
