We stayed here for two nights - a very quaint cabin with three bedrooms. Everything you could possibly need was provided, it also included a washing machine and tumble drier which was very useful. Excellent location if visiting Mount Cook which was around 50 mins away and visible from the cottage. Beautiful starry skies! Don't hesitate , visit!

This was one of the best places we stayed on our recent tour of South Island. The room itself was very spacious, comfortable, and clean, with excellent bathroom facilities and toiletries, and a sitting area with sofa. There are tea and coffee-making facilities in the room as well as a small fridge. In addition, there is a large communal kitchen...

Stayed here 27/11/16 on route from Wanaka to Christchurch, the accommodation was a pleasant suprise and excellent for the price we paid, handily placed just off the main highway and close to Twizel if you need anything, I would thoroughly recommend this place, the mountain views in daylight are spectacular and because there's little light pollution the starlit night amazing.

THE BEST STAY IN NZ EVER (FOR US)! What could be better than waking up early in the morning and seeing Mount Cook just outside your room? Or chilling outside your room and looking at the pink sun blanketing the mountain range where Mount Cook lies? Twizel is small town and while Omahau Downs is not in the town centre,...

Such a nice experience. Friendly welcome. Quiet, nicely and simply decorated, warm and cosy. We were there middle of october, mountains were white again... a breathtaking scenery ! A nice common room at the center of our lodge, with everything to cook, big table, fireplace, huge bay window. A Wonder full place to share rich moments with friends or people...

Booked it as a farm stay but no livestock anywhere with freshly ploughed fields in front of the room. But otherwise a lovely place, great views onto the mountains and Mt Cook and a very cozy room. Decorated with detail and thought and very welcoming hosts. Shared lounge and kitchen with other guests of the 4 bedrooms in the building.

We booked Omahau Downs instead of staying in Mount Cook, and were so glad we did. Quiet and peaceful location, and our patio and windows had clear views of Mount Cook (35 km away). There are several cottages/homes, and the home we were in had a large common area that included a big kitchen with everything one could need to...

We stayed in the Self contained cabin which would also suit a couple and 2 kids and has been renovated to a high standard. The rest of our group were in the ensuite lodge which is a newer building with a large kitchen area. All very comfortable and situated just out of Twizel so more of a country atmosphere with...

This is a great accommodation option very close to Twizel especially with kids or in a larger group. Rooms were very clean and in good condition for the reasonable price paid. There is not much to see in Twizel itself - we rode the A2O cycle trail so it was perfect for us and near the track.

The reception desk at Omahau Downs may give an untended impression, the rooms offered are just the contrary: clean, comfortable and spacious. The common kitchen unit provides all amenities. This is a quiet location, perfect for a stop on a road trip.
