Beautiful hosts help to create a home away from home feeling! Definitely recommend staying more than one night to make the most of the surroundings and just relax in all the beautiful rooms. Couldn't recommend more :)

This accommodation has a stunning view to the Southern Alps. The house and my room are tastefully decorated, and plenty of drinks (both soft and alcoholic), snacks and fruits are available for the guests through the whole day. Jo is a lovely and warm hearted hostess. She gave us good recommendations to nice dining locations and in the morning she...

We stayed at Matuka Luxury Lodge for two nights. After a welcome from Jo and Peter we were shown our room overlooking the lake - complete with ducks. Next we were offered a cup of tea and shown all the goodies available to guests, including Jo's homemade fruit cake which was delicious. Each morning, there was a selection of cereals...

The dining and lounge rooms are well decorated, cosy and very welcoming. It felt very comfortable and homely. Having stayed at many 5 star properties around the world, it was telling that my husband said "Terrific-the best accommodation ever!". Matuka Lodge is a beautifully decorated, tranquil oasis near Twizel. Our hosts were a delight, and understood the difference between being excellent hosts (they were), and allowing guests to have some space. The Lodge is for guest use only,...

In researching where to stay between our drive from Christchurch to Queenstown we chose Matuka Lodge. When we pulled up we thought perhaps we had accidentally driven into someone's private driveway as we came upon two homes. But we were pleasantly surprised when the owner, Jo, walked up and introduced herself. She led us into the home which was warm...

It is a Family hotel. The day we arrived in Matuka Lodge was raining. The lodge was suitable for staying because of the big sitting room. The house is clean and beautiful. The pond is very beautiful. The owner is very nice. It's worthy to stay.

Wonderful location. Amazing hospitality and exceptional accommodation. Wished we could have stayed longer. Would definitely recommend particularly in Autumn with the colours of the trees and I'm sure the winter would be just as beautiful. Plenty to do and see in the area eg fishing, walking , cycling or just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
