Great Value Hotel right in the center of Wanaka, only one-minute walk to the Lake and Town Center. Full Restaurant and Bar Facilities on-site. Plenty of free, off street parking.
Very close to City centre. Consists of many self-contained unit. Laundry and communal kitchen. Kitchen no refrigerator, only one kettle. Cooktop instructions didn't mention to switch a power button underneath first. So we were unable to use cook- top at first. Rooms basic. Good location.

We booked a standard room with 2 beds, on arrival they said we'd been 'upgraded' but the new room only had the one queen bed and the rest of the rooms were all fully booked. This was slightly annoying as we needed the original 2 beds, but the receptionist was helpful and allowed us to view the room first. When it wasn't satisfactory we were shown a compact room which we took but its not what we booked and there was no difference refunded for a very small room. While small it was nicely appointed, had everything we needed. Bed was super comfy with nice clean, fresh linen. Bathroom was very pokey - no room on the basin for anything but the shower was great. Toiletries provided were nice - I did like their sustainable initiative to recycle all toiletry bottles. The free carpark had alot of room, the hotel had some small garden areas and some alfresco seating/picnic area. While I didn't personally try it, the Mexican bar/restaurant looked nice and had a decent crowd each night. Was a really great location, across the road from a small convenience store, walking distance to the lake (for any cruises/excursions that start there) and also basically across the road from the foreshore which had alot of bars and eateries. Overall a good stay minus the room mix up which was relativly fixed up on site. Would stay again but get in contact prior to suss out the rooming situation as it was nice to be offered an upgrade.…

Stayed here with a group on business and was extremely disappointed with room booked vs room allocated. Hotels who think the drivers should have the dregs need to realise we are your free advertising good or not so good. This was the latter Ants in room extremely hot and recovering for next day hard to achieve.

The room we had was exceptional, we had the royal suite, which was amazing, with fabulous views of the lake. We felt very special as the previous 3 nights accommodation elsewhere was terrible and very expensive. Wanaka Hotel is a hidden gem and we highly recommend.

We recently stayed at the Wanaka Hotel, attracted by its central location which did not disappoint being so close to the lake and the centre of town. However, our overall experience was marred by several discomforts. The hotel shows its age with a rather run-down appearance and old which could definitely use some modern upgrades. A minor, yet notable inconvenience was the provision of single ply toilet paper, of which there wasn't enough. The quality of toilet paper says a lot about a place. The bathroom was compact, to say the least, and while the heated mirror would be a thoughtful touch in winter, it made the room unbearably warm in the spring sunshine. The lack of a powerful shower further dampened our experience. The absence of air conditioning was felt, especially during the sunny afternoon when our room turned into a sauna despite opening the windows and sliding door. Parking was another challenge. It’s a game of luck to find a spot at times due to the pub . This could be quite inconvenient especially if you’re carrying a fair bit of luggage. The combined effect of these issues unfortunately outweighed the benefits of the location. We have decided not to return to Wanaka Hotel for our future visits to the area.…

The welcome was very pleasant and the room we were allocated was indeed the quiet room we’d requested upon booking. We were upstairs with something of a lake view in a room that looked as though it had recently been re-furbished. The room was clean and comfortable and access to the car park via a set of stairs from the corridor made loading and unloading much easier than if we’d had to access our room from front reception, in what is quite a large building. There is a bar adjacent to the front entrance and a restaurant at the rear (which was closed during our stay) and I don’t know what impact they would have had upon our desire for a quiet room had they been going full swing of a weekend.

We stayed overnight after driving down from Cardona. The driveway entrance is shared with the pub and there were a few spots where you could park on the driveway to check into the hotel. Check-in was easy since I had done an online booking. We did have to go back out to the main road to circle back to the parking lot behind the building. The parking lot was fairly large but the area labelled for the hotel was full so we went to the other side hoping the ticket we had was good for it. There is access to the hotel from the carpark so you didn't have to walk all the way to the front. If you were heading upstairs there is also a set of doors by the parking lot to make the traverse shorter. The rooms were quite clean and the view of the lake from the balcony was nice. The beds were comfortable and there were toiletries available. It was decently sized with an area for luggage so it wasn't in the way around the beds. The room had a fridge as well as a kettle. There were laundry facilities available for guest use as well for a price. It was in a great location quite close to town and the lake. There was also a cafe (Scroggin), restaurant (Amigos) and bar (Bullock Bar) beside the hotel if you didn't want to go too far. there was also a kitchen by the parking lot but it was separate from the hotel through some covered pathways. Although it was a bit bothersome having to lug baggage upstairs, the room was nicely sized and was quite comfortable with a decent WiFi signal. Check-in and out were quite easy. The parking was a bit full and it was only one way so it required a bit of a detour to get back onto the main road. Otherwise, the stay was quite nice with beautiful views and a nice stay in Wanaka.…

Comfortable beds and heaps of pillows Very warm with radiator heating and extra blankets and heater provided too. Very nice staff Rooms immaculate on arrival and well aired. They are not able to be serviced everyday due to covid but you just get what you need to stock up from reception. We had two rooms on ground floor at far end away from office. Very quiet room and ranch slider opened into lawn. Had a great sleep. ! Bathrooms not flash but perfectly clean and adequate. Hot water no issue and good water pressure. An old style hotel great for family’s with location right near central wanaka. Price is reasonable and car parking at rear of hotel. Good dining in hotel at fun Mexican restaurant.

Crappy old place that is extremely run down and old. Room ok inside but just ok. Shower had absolutely no pressure at all. Carpark was over filled by people at the pub so had to find other parking. Wouldn’t recommend this place and certainly not worth the money
