I really enjoyed our stay. Comfortable and clean rooms, clean pool, room service every day, all the rooms with sea view and balcony. Breakfast and dinner was also very nice, I has some doubts because there were some negative comments about the food but I really enjoyed it. The only thing is there was a low tide after 12.00 and we had to walk around 10 minutes in order to swim in the afternoon but it was not a problem for us. Very very good experience.

Small intimate hotel, with a private beautiful beach, I think the best beach in Zanzibar. Very clean. The room was large, comfortable beds. Mosquito nets were folded out over the bed every day. Staff very helpful, always smiling. Food good, not much choice but tasty. The pool is not big, cleaned daily. There is place to play volleyball. The hotel has security, We felt very safe there.

When we arrived for check-in we where told that our rooms where cancelled a long time ago. When we questioned this, they had no good explanation for what happened. When we asked for a written confirmation explaining that our rooms where cancelled to send to our travel agent for a refund, they initially refused, but agreed to write a note after 30 minutes of arguing. Not helpful at all

When we arrived we got told that our reservation got cancelled. The staff did not try to help us very much. We just needed a confirmation that our stay got cancelled from them so that we could charge our travel agent, but it seemed difficult for them to make that happen.

When we came to the Hotel they told us that the reservation had been cancelled a long time ago. That may be true, but when asked to give us a written confirmation that the reservation were cancelled, they initially said no. After arguing for half an hour we got a vague note saying that they did not have any rooms for some of the dates we were supposed to be there, But they did not specify the actual dates we couldn’t have our rooms. They told us we could Get one (out of Three) rooms later, But did not want to give us a written confirmation containing the same information. Not helpful at all.

So disaster with this hotel . Very bad choice. We booked one room with double bed and they give me one room with 3 single beds and not change me room ! Bad breakfast and very bad dinner. Dirty towels and seats….. in the bar don’t have alcohol! So bad hotel !!! Never again here

The staff at Smiles Beach Hotel were so friendly and very helpful when we lost our luggage at our first day at the airport. The hotel was very clean at all times, and loved the non crowded sunbeds. We also got medical help very quickly to the hotel thanks to the staff calling a nearby doctor - which was very appreciated! Will come back here in the future.

What a beautiful setting, best beach in the area. The private beach where there was plenty of shade and seated areas. Not over crowded even in high season. Only 22 rooms. Really beautiful for relaxation and swimming. A few not so good was the breakfasts, Really!, it would be so easy to tweek the finer details, Have stock of tomato sauce and the basics. Keep the hot food hot and teach your staff to understand a bit of English. The staff at the restaurant need to be trained. Your cleaning staff were amazing and all staff friendly. Dinners were really tasty. Rooms were very clean and spacious, have been upgraded recently. Pool was a bit off colour at times, The black hot tiles that are so slippery and burn your feet around the pool was not a good choice of tile, not practical at all. A wonderful place to stay, we were half board so went to the different restaurants in the area which are easily accessible from the hotel. Highly recommended for a relaxing holiday.…

We stayed at Smiles for 3 nights in one of the rooms on the ground floor. The beach and seaside is just 50 meters from the doorstep and it takes just 5-10 minutes to reach the center. The room is very nice, the turndown service is super, the restaurant has amazing quality at affordable prices. The security was perfect, Michael educated us on Maasai life and Said make our breakfast and dinner experience like home. We also want to thank everybody else, from the reception staff, to the restaurant staff, and of course the cleaning ladies and everybody else for making this a great stay.
