The owners are nice by email but they are not there most of the time I suppose. The staff doesnt speak English. The place looks like crap. Dirty and dilapidated. I was meant to stay there for yoga, but I didnt like it at all. Also the area is sketchy. Maybe the price solo is worth it, but as a very...

I have nothing but praise for Mustafa and his team at Casa Umoja! We were doing our Yoga Teacher Training in Nungwi with Marisa at Yoga Zanzibar and stayed at Casa Umoja for the whole month. The food was exquisite, every day they prepared amazing food for brunch and dinner, everyday was different! There was a great variety and it...

I stayed at Casa Umoja for a month, during a yoga retreat, and it was brilliant. The place is beautiful, and is tucked back from the beach, but the beach is right outside. The food was amazing and was different every single day for the whole month. The rooms varied in style but all were comfortable. My room was lovely,...

I stayed for a week while doing a yoga retreat and this was just the place. Away from the bustle of the beach in a peaceful garden. The rooms were clean and spacious and the buildings and garden traditional. Staff were helpful and friendly. A restaurant would have been nice but then they are building one, and the staff were...

I've stayed at Umoja a few times already and this Sept I dropped in almost after a year and it was still wonderful. You know how you wonder if a place is still as nice if you haven't been there in a while? Well, Umoja has always been a wonderful experience. Its 30 seconds from the beach but just conveniently...

Good place to meet fellow backpackers. Very Relaxed atmosphere, very reasonably priced - everything is really clean and neat. Recommended especially considering the nice house, rooms and simply beautiful garden with hammocks and couches Brekkie included and entails fresh fruits, coffee, tea, juice and some eggs to your liking with bread and chapati.

We can honestly say that we enjoyed our stay at Casa Umoja. The bungalow we stayed at was huge, clean and had everything that we needed for a relaxed stay. The location is good. It is close to the beach and just far enough from the party-areas so that you don't have any troubles sleeping cause of the sound. Three...

Casa Umoja is really cheap for Nungwi and I enjoyed my stay. You shouldn't have too high expectations though. You'll be disappointed. The rooms are huge but a bit dark. The beds are massive and the rooms have fans. No air con. No wireless. I wish they had at least a deal with the neighbouring Flametree Cottages or so. You...

This place is cool because it's a lot like being in a real african home, except much more luxurious (for Africa, that is). The grounds are nice with a garden like atmosphere and there's a fire pit area for people to chill out around. PRO: good beds large baths good fans great staff quiet kitchen available CON: no a/c not...
