First of all Mohamed is a realy nice man with e grat place. We stayed 3 weeks in a private house in Matemwe, and Mohameds was our absulute favorite place to eat. The menu is plain, but the food is so tasty and fresh - fish and prawns in curries and coconut etc. We had our own car and visited...

Staff is very friendly and the location is nice and quiet. Not too touristic and the food is delicious. Would definitely recommend it to you. You can do some snorkeling with dolphins if you're lucky or do fishing trips. Stayed here for 3 days too lay back and relax. Beautiful place

If you want to support one of the few, if not only, locally owned place in Matemwe, stay here. After days of spending lots of money of Norwegian/Italian/Swedish/British-owned fancy resorts, for swimming pools and TVs I never used, coming here was a relief. Though this place is no thrills, its clean, has hot water, free wifi and a nice restaurant...

We spent 5 days and 5 nights in this hotel. Mohammed and his family were so nice with us. The accomodation is good, with hot water and electricity in each bungalow. There is is free Wifi. The food is low-price and so delicious...we ate at the hotel twice a day without being bored. It's a quiet and peaceful place to...

After a week on safari we searched for a beachfront location away from the masses. Mohammed's bungalows sounded perfect. Isolated on the NE coast of Zanzibar in a fishing village seemed idyllic. We got there by Daldala (1hr from Stonetown) and immediately liked what we found. 5 bungalows, a beach bar/restaurant and miles of white sand. Facilities were posh back...

Let me start by saying that Matemwe Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I've been to, on any continent. Perfect colours both in the sea and the sky with local fishing boats making up the perfect postcard. Now, if you plan to see Zanzibar on a 200 usd/week budget, then this place is for you. It's right on...

Mohammeds was a great find in an area that was mostly full of expensive hotels - much cheaper and more relaxed. Our room was basic but huge with two large beds and a verandah we could leave our shoes on, with a basin of water to wash the sand off our feet. There was a small open restaurant area where...

I stayed at Mohammed's for three nights in the room above the restaurant. He and his family are very nice and they try to make and keep you happy! Of course matemwe is quite expensive, so Mohammed is a good choice! The food was very nice, especially the breakfast with pancakes and Nutella ;)

We recently stayed several days at Mohammed's and loved it. While the bungalows, as others say, are very basic, it is the spirit of the place that we loved. When we first arrived we thought we would just stay a night then move to the more lovely place next to it with a pool, as it is similarly priced. Then...

“There is no swimming pool, but then again, the Indian Ocean is about 50 steps from your bungalow. There is also not a fitness center, but a jog on the beach in the early morning allows you to watch the local women harvesting seaweed in their bui-buis. Local kids play on the beach here, and will often invite you to join them in a game of soccer, but there are no beach boys/aggressive vendors selling things on this part of the beach. It's also quite safe...I was traveling alone and walked up and down the beach many times with no hassles, just friendly locals welcoming me.”
