We recently stayed in An Portan B & B for two nights recently. We were a family group of five adults and occupied three rooms. The rooms are individual bedroom units, each accessed by it’s own external door and were comfortable and clean. Each had a double bed and a single bed. They also had a kettle, a Nespresso machine, hair dryer, clock radio and television ( very limited station choice). The bathroom was small but adequate, clean and had a good shower.

We enjoyed a very good breakfast each morning – choices included the full Irish, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, blueberry pancakes (divine!) and an omelette with ham, cheese & vegetables.
One could opt to eat dinner on the premises too but we did not do so on this occasion – next time!

The owners and staff were very pleasant and friendly and were v helpful in providing local” information. The scenery locally is spectacular. We were also informed that there is a sitting room for residents use - an added bonus.

Dingle is approx a 15 minute drive away. We were able to park on the premises very close to our rooms. We had a lovely time there and can recommend this property.

Just returned yesterday from a 2 night break in An Portan. What a find! Beautiful well equipped rooms with tv, ensuite and tea/coffee making facilities. Spacious double bed and probably the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in. It was a very wet and cold weekend in Dunquin, and Geraldine had the heating on, so overall a very cosy stay. Very well run establishment, you pre-order a home cooked breakfast the evening before, and select your time to dine. The breakfasts were beautiful. I had homemade blueberry pancakes both mornings, which were huge, tasty and very filling. My husband had the full Irish and was also a happy customer. There was cereals, fruit and juices self service. And plenty tea/coffee, toast and brown soda bread provided. We were well set up for the day. If you wish to have an evening meal there's also a menu, but we didn't partake as we were in Krugers Bar to watch the Cork match. An Portan is literally just across the road from Krugers Bar, so very convenient for a pint. It also has lovely views of the Blaskets, just a shame the weather was so bad for us this weekend that we couldn't see it. But I would definitely recommend An Portan and we will be returning hopefully in sunnier dryer days. Full marks.

This review is more of a thank you than a true review. While hiking the Dingle Way a few weeks ago, I needed to figure out how to catch a bus back to Tralee in order to catch a train for Dublin and catch a flight to Berlin--not such an easy task to figure out connections and bus stops, believe it or not. Though An Portan was full and I was not a guest, the owner called all around to try to find a room, set me up with the bus information I needed, allowed me to wait inside (It was raining!), and even brought me coffee and toast while I waited. The dining room was pristine, and guests seemed to really enjoy their breakfast and interactions with the host. I will definitely stay there next time (and it's too beautiful there not to have a next time), and am so grateful for the kindness and true hospitality that was extended to me.

We stayed here for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Perfect location for exploring the Dingle Peninsula, with fabulous own door bedroom units with en suite shower and beautiful flowerbeds lining the spacious car park. With the added bonus of a living room for guests use and the option to get an evening meal. The breakfast was delicious with a great choice of pancakes, omelettes and traditional fry. Geraldine the host, was so hospitable and helpful, we’d highly recommend staying here and hope to return soon!

We stayed here after a surprisingly long day on the Dingle Way. The town is located just off the way, but a helpful local pointed us in the right direction. The woman who checked us in (who also served dinner, and breakfast, and checked us out!) was very friendly. The room was comfortable. She gave a great recommendation of pizza at Kruger’s pub, but then also served dinner to us and some other guests when we discovered that the Kruger’s chef had gone home!

An Portán was a wonderful 2 night stop - we highly recommende it for the accommodation lovely breakfast and dinner. Krugers pub is 50 m and there is an hourly bus to Dingle. The ferry nearby to the Blasket Islands is a wonderful experience weather permitting.

I have brought a few painting groups to An Portan over the years, and once more, it was a great success, due to Geraldine and Ronan's warm welcome. They will do anything to make our stay more pleasant and are very easy going. The bedrooms are very clean, warm and cosy. The food, only if you stay, is cooked freshly with the best of local products by Ronan and is delicious.
Planning to visit the Dingle Peninsula?Don't think twice, stay at An Portan.

We stayed here for a night while walking the Dingle Way and loved it. The room ( more like our own little chalet) was large and very comfortable. Food was very good and the owner Geraldine was so friendly and helpful. We were served by one of her sons who was also very friendly. This was one of our two favourite places to stay on the Dingle way. There were Covid restrictions but we accepted all of these as we felt very safe.

We have been going to the Portan for a number of years and its a perfect destination to explore the area. We travel to dingle daily and it also lets us get to Tralee on a day trip and its close to Ventry beach as well. Krugers is across the road for some evening entertainment and you can also walk to the Blasket Centre.
