We booked this hotel with some misgiving in the light of some reviews on your website but I think any adverse judgment of this hotel is unfounded. The hotel was clean and, for its class, well-apponted with good quality decoration and fittings. The retaurant is pleasant and the food good. There is adequate free parking opposite the hotel and more parking in the adjoining streets. One of our nights was disturbed by dogs fightiing over rubbish dumped on the edge of the street opposite by a neighbouring hotel . Although it is a good five minutes walk down to the seafront, the Alceste is well-situated in relation to access to the Archaeological Park which was the purpose of our visit. You can easily return to the Alceste for lunch and a rest after a morning's visit and explore the remainder of the Park in the afternoon. If you are staying longer than a couple of days, you need a car to get around.

Modern hotel 5 minute walk from the beach, 5 minute drive from the Temples. Large room/ view of sea (if you stuck your head out the window), breakfast on a terrace with view of sea. Free, safe, on street parking. Restaurant dinner was quite good and no more expensive than anywhere else in town. Staff spoke minimal English. I wouldn't call the hotel (or the town) charming, but we were there (as are most people) to see the temples and it was more than fine for that. €80 for a double in July 2005

Comfortable rooms, balcony, breakfast room and terrace upstairs with view on the sea and towards the greek ruins of Selinunte. Helpful reception attendants and nice table service with especially good antipasti.

This was the least expensive of all of our hotels in Sicily and we were a little worried prior to our arrival. Apparently the Hotel Alceste has a newer sister hotel, Admeto Hotel. We were given two lovely new rooms in the Admeto Hotel. They both had balconies and the rooms were immaculate and the bathrooms were new. The air conditioning was controlled from within the room. We had free parking under the hotel. We ate at the Hotel Alceste restaurant as it was highly rated and had a wonderful meal which was not expensive. Selinunte is a lovely quiet quaint fishing village and we loved walking around. The archealogical ruins are very nearby. This is a lovely hotel with professional and helpful staff.

I've been in Selinunte for a week and I chose the Hotel Alceste that I found on the internet.
I also checked out the reviews here on tripadvisor, as I usually do... not that weel I see, but the price was good so that I say c'mon, let's try, it could not be that bad. And it was not at all!
Room was good, large enough, clean enough, air conditioning, terrific sea view! As well as breakfast... They also had typical english breakfast but I was in Sicily, I had to try cappuccino and cornetto!
And waiters at the restaurant as well as the staff were so kind... they suggested me the best place to visit nearby, were to try the best drinks, how to spend nightlife... I'm really satisfied and happy for choosing Alceste!

We recently visited Selinunte and spent a night at Hotel Alceste. We were very few visitors, so we had a room s
with a balcony towards the sea. Lovely.
The best part of the stay was the breakfast, at the neighbouring hotel, top floor, lovely food and a magnificent view towards the sea.

This hotel was only for a few nights and we weren't there much as we had family in the area and were with them from morning until late at night. Upon arrival a woman at the front desk barely said hello when we checked in. She mentioned nothing about the breakfast included or where it was. We were delighted to see that our room had a nice balcony which overlooked the ocean across 2 streets. The hotel wasn't that quiet. The chairs being dragged across the tile floor in the breakfast room on the floor above us made sure that we were awake early each morning (which was fine-we had to be up and out early anyway). The bathroom was sufficient. I really liked this little town and enjoyed staying there but the front desk staff were really hard to come by! When we checked out (at 8am) there was no one to be found-anywhere! We waited for 10 minutes, my husband looked around the rooms surroundign the lobby and even went up to the restaurant-but no luck. We ended up leaving the room key on the front desk along iwth TV remove and AC remote. I hoped they'd figure it out.

Struggled to find a hotel in Selinunte (none on here) so ended up with this. It is a little way back from the sea (lots of steps) and the restaurants/bars on the beach front but convenient for the archeological park.
Front desk seemed a little haphazard and you had to ask for everything (safe key, TV remote, aircon remote...). Room itself was good with a balcony with a slightly distant view of the sea.
There is a big, free, public car park 200m earlier on the road and this is the best bet and about 3 parking spaces opposite.

When booking this trip, it was a toss up between the Alceste and the Admeto. Because I would be in the Archeological Park and the Nature Reserve all of the 2 days I would be in Selinunte, I decided on the cheaper optio - The Alceste. I was not dissapointed. I had a lovely room on the second floor with a large balcony and a partial sea view, down the side of the Admeto, which is directly opposite.

The room was spotless, as was the bathroom. The bedlinedn was excellent and the bed very comfortable. I would say that the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything that is going on in the next room. The doors do bang at night and the locks are clunky and loud, but I slept well.

Breakfast was provided in the Admeto, which is run by the same director. The restaurant on the fourth floor of the Admeto is spectacular. When the weather is fine, breakfast tables are laid out on the open air sun terrace, with spectacular views over the whole of Selinunte.

The decision is yours. If you can aford the few pounds mor for the Admeto stay there. There is ample parking for both hotels, which are surrounded by very good restaurants and bars.

On the good side, great breakfast, NO wifi in the rooms only at the reception, shower door broken, not cheap, needs a renovation. I would not recommend for that price 65 Euro. The parking is not suffi ient for all the rooms, so you need to be lucky
