Initially, we selected this hotel for its location. It is a very easy access to the Autostrada for exploring the many cities & towns of Tuscany, the Chianti region & even Umbria. Sarteano is also near the train station so a day trip to Florence & be back to the hotel for dinner is very doable. The owners are warm,...

During our Tuscany trip we stayed here for four nights. At the reception, if somebody is there, they don't speak English and are not even trying to help you. With that many rooms, 10 beds at the non heated and very small swimming pool is pathetic. Rooms are ok and clean, TV did not work but I can't be bothered...

My family and I stayed at a house owned by the family who also runs La Lanterna. We ate at the restaurant on several occasions. The restaurant was clean and well-run. The servers speak some English but we were able to speak Italian and communicate easily. The restaurant is on a hill with a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside....

We had a pleasant stay in hotel La Lanterna. It is a quiet place, nice and tidy rooms, airco, an adequate ( yet unheated) pool, good food and a friendly, partially English speaking, staff. We would surely recommend this hotel for a stay in the Tuscany/ Umbria region. Even made a trip to Rome, which was just short of a...

If what you're looking for is a clean place to put down your bags, have a shower and spend as little time as possible in your room, this is a great place. Friendly family service that can give you some good pointers while you lazily drive through the Tuscan/Umbrian countryside...and the old man makes his own olive oil and wines...

Great hotel, calm place. Has it's own pool (not very big though). Perfectly working wi-fi is available everywhere within the hotel. By the way, try the great olive oil which is sold there (owners produce?).

We stayed in Sarteano for 8 days in room 108 (half board). As mentioned by other reviewers this hotel is a gem: beautiful garden, nice pool, spacious, friendly personnel, good location, clean rooms. When we arrived there was a honeymoon party going on. Quite surprising but very amusing. During the weekend they are organising weddingbuffets. As they have good isolation...

La Lanterna is a very good hotel located south of Siena. The area is calm but the small town center of Sarteano (less than 2 kms) has all the facilities you would need. The hotel is run by the family, who is also producing wine (pretty good by the way) and olive oil. The rooms are excellent but size may...
