We had a wonderful two-night stay at the Cork Lodge at Herdade da Maroteira. The lodge was so peaceful--just a short walk from the main farmhouse, surrounded by the cork forest. We wish we could have stayed longer! The farm is just a little over an hour from Lisbon, and about 40 minutes from Evora, so it's the perfect retreat... More

We stayed in Tils Cottage for 6 days and thoroughly enjoyed everything this interesting farm and area have to offer. Wonderful walking/strolling in the cork forest with the faithful and reassuring dogs. Special thanks to Jose for all his friendly advice.

We were very happy to be at this relaxed farm in the middle of nowhere - but only about 1hour from Lisbon - which gave us some education as it's a working farm complete with experts on the cork business, wine and has goats & (sometimes) pigs as well. Friendly dogs and super warm people along with clean and comfortable... More

We stayed in the Farm House for 6 nights The owners, Phillipe and Marge, were wonderful hosts, and treated us as family. The views and the surrounding countryside were beautiful. Their wine is amazing. We even had an opportunity to take a tour of their winery. This is a perfect place to call home while visiting the Alentejo wine region's... More

Herdade da Maroteira was an amazing place to stay. We were met by friendly staff and showed around the amenities such as the pool and around our accommodation. We stayed in the Wood Lodge which had lovely views of the farm and surrounding area. The lodge was just what we needed, clean, straightforward but with everything we needed. Hot shower,... More

We found this place online and just had to stay! We stayed for three nights, two in the log cabin (cute, relaxing and has everything you need), and one night in a second house on the property (a huge spacious area with great views). Its a cork plantation (with a pool, and wifi) with so much history and a great... More

This was a very nice place to stay! Beautifull surroundings, friendly peaople, nice and clean house. You can really get some rest out here! We would certainly return. If you want to stay here for more than a couple of days, it would be a tip to the owner to put some better outside furniture. On a place like that,... More

Quaint place, good accommodations and fresh breakfast. Rooms lacks basic toiletries. So bring your own shampoo, soap, etc. Our stay included a visit to a cork plantation, vineyard, wine tasting. Phillip the owner of Herdade da Maroteira, gave us detailed explanations about everything we saw at his farm. About cork industry today. About wine industry from harvest of best grapes... More

This place is just wonderful if you like nature, animals and tranquillity. We stayed in the wooden lodge (small but well equipped and clean). It is possible to walk all day in the farm, under beautiful cork oaks. The lovely dogs of the owner (nice people) join you for the walks. It is possible to buy good wine and fresh... More
