Every single aspect of our stay at Villa Laura was safe, comfortable, convenient and absolutely a fair value for our money. The hosts, Emmanuel and Laura, routinely went well over the call of duty to ensure we could enjoy the best possible experience not only of their delightful, clean home, but of the gorgeous Island of San Miguel. They picked us up at the airport without charge, personally brought me to a pharmacy (on a national holiday!) and translated my situation to the pharmacist, to help me obtain an important prescription medication I had forgotten to pack, gave us rides, found us a wonderful taxi driver who reliably appeared whenever we called, took us on a private tour in their own vehicle and even offered to run a load of laundry through the wash for us the night before we left. There is not one single thing I would change about my time in Villa Laura EXCEPT I would stay longer.

We had the privilege and extreme good fortune of stumbling into Hotel Vila Laura and Emanuel on our trip to Saõ Miguel. This hidden gem and host exceeded any hospitality we, as a well travelled family, have EVER experienced. To say that Emanuel is passionate about his island is an understatement! On arriving he invited us to do a tour of the island the next day in his van for a very fair price for the seven of us. Emanuel then presented us with an itinerary taking us to the most important and spectacular sights on the island. His in-depth knowledge of the best times to visit each site, local meals and infectious laugh held us all spellbound for almost 15 hours! We all wish we had booked more time to spend at Vila Laura as his customised tour suggestions from hot springs to a hiking trails need a few days to complete. The best example of the passion shown by our amazing host came at the end of the day. After assuring us we would be home in 25 minutes Emanuel sneakily continued to take us on detour after detour to show us every worthwhile point on the island. Almost two hours later we arrived home in the dark extremely tired but utterly blown away by the passion and energy our incredible host had shown from minute we met him. Saõ Miguel is a stunningly beautiful island and there is no better place to be based for your stay than Vila Laura. Many thanks Emanuel and Laura, I’m sure we will be back for more.

It was an exciting day! Sheltered for everyone by choosing Vila Laura for your vacation! Although I love being with you during your stay, it was! Enjoy the relaxing, tranquility, peace, warmth of the summer night, rest, quiet, the dawn of dairy cows in your pasture after a busy day! in my appreciation, I think we all deserved the same relaxation at that time seeing the cows, after a great day! Thank you all! Emanuel and Laura

it was one of the coziest houses I've ever been. It's not a hotel or guesthouse, it's a real house with a full wideness of Azorean hospitality. we had a room on the 2nd floor and it was very clean, comfortable and quiet. Every morning we got a lovely breakfast from local products. The host and his wife are so nice - apart from the great staying they provide us with the best pieces if advice for the nearest area. We're so glad to see that there are people not spoiled by mass tourism. Keep up the good work!!

I read some good reviews about this place on bookings site and decided to stay in Vila Laura because of those. We have tried many different hotels/room rentals/airbnb before and this was definitely the best we have ever stayed in. Emanuel took us as a part of his family and cared about us during the entire trip, showing local nature, food and even helping with buying tickets, planning our hikes according to the weather every morning, taking to the airport, hiking with us and showing "no-tourist" places. We felt that he and his family are there 24h to help. The rooms were really clean and cozy with excellent cleaning and bed making every day. The place was very quite and other guests were all fantastic, friendly and respectful people. Now we have a little family on Azores. We would highly recommend staying in Vila Laura for anyone who wants to experience the holidays to the fullest.

This place is just wonderful. The house is so beautiful! Every room is decorated with original furniture and the whole house has a special atmosphere. Everything is clean, beautiful and well-maintained. The host is extremely kind. We arrived late at night, he waited for us and he was extremely welcoming. During our stay he gave us a lot of tips and advices about the island. Breakfast is fresh, rich and tasty (jam and cheese were fantastic). A pity we stayed only one night!!
