We have been staing in this place in march, and enjoing this time so much. This place has 4 separate villas with beautiful garden and lemon tree, and also the summer kitchen with pool and swings on top of the hill. This was gorgeous! To the owners: Thank you so much for this place, we will defenatly come back in better time! Take care!

I stayed in Quinta das Rosas for a few days in March and had the place totally to myself. Nice, clean, quiet, and well equipped apartment with a little deck, gardens and a jacuzzi (not heated). Super soft bed (perhaps a little too soft for me, but that's just my personal preference) and everything else just like the photos (I booked through AirBnB). Supermarket around the corner so easy to cook meals in if you choose to (I did). Eduardo, the owner (also designed and built the place) and the lovely, sweet housekeeper took excellent care of me and I very much enjoyed my stay.

We were really looking forward to our stay in Quinta das Rosas as it looked great in pictures and was one of the most expensive places we booked during our 2-week holiday in Azores (we stayed in 5 different places). Pluses: - Eduardo is a very nice guy and gives you nice tips about where to eat and what to see on Sao Miguel - Good location to see different parts of the island - Nice garden in the middle of the town with some nice privacy (there are three houses next to each other in the garden but they are separated by some trees so you don’t really see other people - however, in order to leave the property everyone has to walk on a path in front of the house) - there is a big supermarket close to villas so its convenient for food shopping Minuses: - Ribeira Grande is probably one of the least pretty towns we have seen in Azores (we have been on 4 islands). There is no “town center” as such and the buildings overall are quite ugly, unfortunately - Quinta looks better in the pictures than in real life especially when it comes to the level of cleaniness, quality of appliances, insects and overall comfort of staying there. Specifically: 1. CLEANINESS: I understand that the villas are self-serviced BUT if you don’t clean them properly the place will gradually deteriorate. The furniture for sitting outside was dirty when we arrived. The oven has some remains of food inside. The stove is somehow used and burnt. The couch looks dirty. I dont think the shower door and walls have been cleaned for a while and there are some first signs of fungus. All other self-serviced apartments where we have been to had a cleaning service. It really makes a big difference and helps to keep the place looking clean... Unfortunately, the bedsheets and black pool towels smelled not very fresh - they might have just been used for a long time and not dried well. The shower towels, on the contrary, smelled nice and seemed to be clean (in comparison to bedsheets and pool towels) 2. APPLIANCES: the house is equipped with Ikea appliances that must have been used already for a couple of years. Two frying pans we have in the flat are so used that it was impossible to make scrammbled eggs without burning the frying plate. The stove is burnt. No kitchen paper available. Thr oven was dirty inside. I dont think it was cleaned in a while...Overall, for the premium price we paid we were very disappointed. 3. INSECTS: I know that Quinta is in the garden but I think its unacceptable to have ants all over the place. Everywhere. I discovered a spray against insects but basically I would need to spray the whole floor to prevent them from entering (even with closed windows/doors). And here is my point with the cleaning. If the place was well maintained you would not have so many insects everywhere, this also includes spiders in the bathroom and around the kitchen area. 4. OVERALL COMFORT: the house had a pretty bad ventilation so on hot days it was not very pleasant to stay indoors. We did use a big fan that was in the living room but that wouldn’t be too helpful at night, especially on more humid days. Overall - we felt the places didnt give an adequate value for money. We paid a lot for the stay but felt quite uncomfortable primarily because of the insects and somehow the overall level of cleaniness and comfort. Quinta is being sold online as more of a premium place but it is FAR from giving a premium service. The host is a great guy, but really the quality of the place doesn’t justify the price.

Is a good place to stay. The true is that we were always going out and we did not enjoy so much the inn, but is a nice and quiet place. Eduardo gave us good information about places to visit and restaurants. We enjoy a lot the island.

We found this nice place on Booking.com but we mailed to the host himself to make a reservation! He answered very quickly, very friendly that everything was OK and we didn't had to pay a deposit for the stay. We where also looking for a car to get around on the island and he hooked us up with a company and made a reservation too! Everything was fine there! Eduardo is super friendly as a host to show you around his wel equipped property, and give you the best tips for restaurant visits and for some nice places to visit at the island. He really takes his time for you, you can see he lives for his beautiful Quinta! We had the White Rose Villa, the smallest one, and it's big enough for a couple. It's spacious enough, you have a small garden where you can sit and relax just for you. The position of this Quinta is perfect, you can get everywhere very quickly when renting a car. Ribeira Grande is the perfect location. You also have one of the best restaurants there (We think so..) and the supermarket is just a 3 minute walk where you can find everything you need including an ATM if you need cash. Definitely try 'A Merenda' for breakfast, that was one of the tips from Eduardo and it's great for something sweet and a good coffee to start the day! You can park your car in front of the Quinta, but also inside, you get a remote to open the gate. Although a bit small maybe, but it's possible. If we have to say one minor thing, it's nothing Eduardo can do about, but some evenings and nights we where bothered by barking dogs really nearby, sometimes they where barking for hours... this happened some nights, luckily not every night though! It is a great place to stay, to relax and you have enough kitchen material to cook your own stuff if you like. If you arrive in the street you wouldn't expect to have such a nice place when you go passed the gate! Amazing! Thanks for the great stay Eduardo! Maybe until next time ;-)
