It is and amazing experience sleeping in a castle of the 10th Century, specially if you are so welcome as we were. Although we had to care for our luggage once more, (seems to be standard in Paradores Hotels), we were enchanted of this building, the beautiful terrace and its view. Breakfast in the patio, among historic ruins, is one...

Great place - great location - wonderful Hondarribia! Outside the fishermans-festival, inside quietness. Thanks to walls with 2 m. The former castle turned into a museum, the guest is living in. And he is free to move in the castle and to explore room by room. That´s what I call a ´great place´to go for vacation.

If you want to sleep in a house where you can feel the history this is the place. You can find hotels all over the world that are more modern and more luxury. But here has a real king lived his royal family - and I am sucker for royal families so I loved it. But beside that. Friendly smiling...

Stayed here in a junior suite for four nights in early August. Unique building that has been sympathetically transformed into a very nice hotel. Helpful and friendly staff (particularly at reception), great views from the terrace across to Hendaye in France, interesting tapestries, handy for buses to San Sebastien and, all round, a very pleasant experience and very good value.

Fabulous place to spend a couple of days. Great location transformed in a beautiful hotel. Luxury environment and an oasis of rest inside the hotel, very nice breakfast and helpfull staff. Ideally located to visit the ancient Hondaribia and the new town with excellent tapa bars. Nearby San Sebastian is definitely worth the visit

We have stayed in many paradors over the years and during a four day period in August we visited 3 more: Cuenca, Teruel and Hondarribia. Cuenca - 5* Teruel - 3.5, so TA 4* Hondarribia - 2* Building is wonderful and the central areas have been restored well, however, the bedroom restoration work is not up to standard of other...

This is an old castle in a location high on a hill overlooking the sea towards France. As such it is ideal for laying off near to the French border . The exterior is very plain but once through the entrance doors you are in a different word where creative planning and architecture captures all the atmosphere of a bygone...

Nice small hotel in a nice little town. Beautiful old building. Very friendly staff. Only one problem: Rooms have no airco which we felt as a problem during our stay (hot!) The price was, compared with other Paradores, high, probably due to the season (beach, boat-activities).

If you're going to pick one parador in Spain, this should be your top choice. It's built into a 10th century building that offers sweeping views of Hondarribia and Hendaye just over the French border from both the rooms and the gracious terrace. Breakfast is served both indoors during cooler weather, as well as outdoors in an open atrium covered...

If you have stayed at Paradors before you will know what to expect and you won't be disappointed. Downside its a trek to the beach and it's at the top of a hill but there is a lift from street level and the walk through town is pleasant. There is no restaurant but loads of places nearby and breakfast is...
