Sadly yet again The Ship tenants have thrown in the towel. They tried hard along with many others. Much loved by many it has been a great place to chat and listen to live bands at the weekend. RIP dear friend here's hoping it has a future and all are sympathetic to its history. PS not stayed just a nearby...

Good that the Old Ship is now under good stable management after years of mis management by various parties who should not have been in pub/hotel management (so I am informed) Much better than it was thats for sure on my last visit. Big bar at the front seems to be weekends only and for live music, its a big...

We were very much looking forward to staying here and even though we had read the reviews we wanted to make our mind up ourselves. The web page for the hotel makes everything look wonderful - we arrived and no one was in the bar to let us in !! - we were shown to our room (2) which on...

Ok Pros and Cons - Good food in Bar, nice breakfast, quaint old place, big room (Number 4) , huge bathroom Cons - Hot water in the shower ! It ran for over 15 minutes and was still cold (BTW we were told this when we checked in, but I thought it would run by then) Bath was not as...

I had an unusual experience at this hotel in early June 2013.I had booked a double room for a single soul at £70 a hit with breakfast. I had arrived at 6.00pm for a friend's bash across the road at the other pub. It was a nice quirky room, with an enormous bathroom offering both shower and a bath- however...

We’d booked a superior room at £90 for the early May Bank Holiday, as there were no standard rooms left to book. On arriving at the hotel at about 2 pm we were told that our room was not ready. However, after a few minutes we were lead up the stairs, where the carpet appeared not to have been cleaned...

We stayed as a family on a Saturday night between rugby matches en route to Frome from Exeter. Booked the hotel due to location etc. We stayed at the top of the house and the rooms were clean, comfortable and well presented. On the Saturday night the food was freshly cooked and absolutely fabulous, I can't understand why it wasn't...

Have returned from a lovely weekend which included a night stay at this hotel. It is a really old building dating back hundreds of years, very interesting history. Our rooms were clean and well presented with the decor in keeping with the age of the building. Our bathroom was massive and immaculate including large bath and shower. The staff were...

We were booked into the old ship as a present . We thought we would check out the reviews prior to going . Although a lot of recent ones were brilliant there's still history of bad food , bad reviews , poor shabby decor !. Well I would like to tell you we had a fantastic 2 night stay ....

“We were given two rooms next to eachother as the family room had gone and we have three children. This worked well and they gave it to us for the price of the family room rather than charge us for two. Very kind, accomodating people.”

“Room 8 has a low double bed and two singles, the bathroom is large with a bath & a hand held shower however we all took the time to bathe and wrap up in the large fluffy towels so it was no hardship! It's right at the top of the building with lovely original beams..easy paced stairs”
