We spent one night on the barge across the rod form the hotel. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The accommodation was very good. Freshly decorated. A good sized shower room. The room was fairly compact but no more than I expected, it being a barge. The stairs was narrow and steep. That could be problematic for those with...

We had a lovely two night stay here on an Itison deal which was extremely good value. The rooms were lovely and clean but as most people have commented a bit on the small side, more an observation than a complaint as it served our purpose splendidly. The only other comment is the soundproofing which isn't great but as long...

The Anchor hotel in Tarbert was a gem. Located on the quiet jetty road the front rooms all had a beautiful view of the harbor. Room 1 was on the first floor just above reception and was nice and quite. The rooms are compact but comfortable and clean. Opening the window allowed the fresh sea breezes to fill the room....

Stopped here for dinner after a whirlwind trip to Islay and much tasting of whisky. Really pleasantly surprised at the quality of food, and the service was very friendly - would recommend if in the area.

Great hotel in Tarbert, rooms a little small but adequate. Bar and restaurant are excellent, food was top class. Great view from room of harbour area. Shower a bit small. All staff are very helpful. Great location for exploring the area.

I was in Tarbert for the evening having sailed across from Largs, we had not made any plans for dinner and dropped into the Anchor and were lucky enough to get a table! Lovely staff made us very welcome and immediately comfortable, we all chose mainly seafood for starters and mains, food was fab. We chatted with the table beside...

Stayed here for a day with friends. Nice hotel, comfortable and great food. Cullen Skink, great soup. Another day had the Fish &Chips. Delicious. Interesting way they serve Shrimp. They also have a barge across the street where one could stay, neat. There is a ferry stop here in town. Transport to Isle of Islay, also a must

Overnight stop before catching ferry to Islay. Lovely room (Room 3) overlooking the harbour. Shower quite small but very efficient. Beds comfortable. Took a walk up to Tarbert Castle before dinner. Slight glitch as although I had booked in advance, our reservation for dinner had not been recorded. Restaurant very busy but we were found a table. Consequently had to...

We stayed 5 nights on the Barge. Slightly apprehensive, and the barge does not look good from outside. But it is superb inside, and our room was excellent, plus you can feed the swan from your window at high tide! The Anchor Hotel itself was very good. Excellent breakfasts; very nice evening meals; décor modern and good. We did not...

This is a very pleasant hotel. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and clean. Food is excellent and plentiful with a decent variety on the menu. All staff are very welcoming, pleasant, helpful and polite. This hotel is clean throughout. A few stairs to be negotiated to reach rooms . Overall a pleasant stay. I will use again.
