I know people reading this might think “aren’t all Travelodges the same?” Well, to a large extent-yes-they are... but that’s why I keep using them! You know what to expect in terms of standards of cleanliness, presentation and service: there is no wondering if the room will be clean or warm; you know it will be. I’ve used Travelodge 3/6 times a year for a couple of years now and have never had a significant problem or been disappointed. Yes, they operate a dynamic pricing system, so the price for the same room can fluctuate depending upon demand.... but you can see the price before you book... that bit is up to you.
Located on a small business/industrial estate on the Western side of the town close to the bypass entrance within easy walking [6-700 yards] of the town centre. Typical rooms for this hotel chain - perfectly functional with complimentary tea/coffee and kettle [No biscuits though!]. I was on business and had some reading to do so I would have preferred to also have some specific additional lighting over the desk -either wall mounted or a small portable, plug-in one. - Not terribly important.A perfectly adequate and comfortable place to spend a night in transit. If I was coming up to the local area for a few days to play golf or visit the local heritage railway lines then four or five days here would present no problem at all. There are plenty of restaurants and cafe and facilities in the town.
Had to wait to be seen on arrival. Room smelt stale, carpet against bed wall was disgustingly filthy and even had the last occupants M&M sweets there!. Bathroom fittings were rusty & discoloured.Stayed in London earlier this year with Travelodge & ended up having to move hotels at midnight due to them letting my room go (even though we had been & left our bags that morning).

Good trip and the room was as expected. All items in place, clean fresh bedding comfortable bed and tidy. Quiet and noise free stay. Would like more free WiFi than just the half hour but able to tether to a mobile phone so I could continue. But had to turn down the heating on our 2nd night as we were on the 1st floor so the heat from below did rise making it quite warm otherwise our stay was fine.
Our second visit to this lovely hotel, very clean, really quiet location, been some negative reviews regarding it's location, but honestly you couldn’t get better service from the staff here, especially the hotel manager 👍😀. You may prefer a room on the front of the hotel, but we were given a room on the back, so I asked the manager if we could have a room on the front instead, “let me just check” he said “ no problem, and we moved room within a couple of minutes, you can’t get better service than that! Thank you Travelodge for a caring manager and staff 👏
