Detailed Reviews
We stopped here for one night. The hotel is very well priced. Unfortunately, due to covid, no restaurant breakfast was on offer. However, the owner had laid out bowls & plates in the room and there were porridge sachets that could be used with water from the kettle; a nice touch in the current circumstances.
Due to time constraints, we didn't try out the bar.
Yes, the building does need work doing to it, but the owner I working on this and has a caring and loving attitude towards the hotel and its guests.

Excellent for the price. Clean functional rooms with all you need. I like the change from miniatures to full sized bottles of shampoo/conditioner/gel.
Free parking on site and a good central location. The building is on the tired side but as the lady explains in the welcome book it is a labour of love and all things take time and money!
Only immediate improvement I would have benefitted from was some doors could use some WD40. We were woken by other (noisy) guests coming back late at night and the squeaky doors were a tad annoying! Best of luck getting this lovely old building back to its best!

Stayed for two nights to be able to visit the Ffestiniog railway. Exterior and common areas (stairs) in need to a revamp but our room (and I suspect all the others) had been revamped and was nice and cosy. COVID meant breakfast was instant porridge. Plentiful tea, coffee etc. Very geared (plates, cutlery and condiments) to you having takeaways (due to limited other options in Porthmadog at time of visit). Excellent value if you can look beyond the outside. Plentiful parking. 3 flights of stairs.

I know that the hotel is undergoing refurbishment but this has to be one of the worst hotels I've stayed in for a long time. I was in Room 5, which was a good size, and had a comfortable bed, and WiFi. But given that the room was supposedly refurbished, it is just not worth ÂŁ65 per night. The electrical wiring is far from satisfactory and may be dangerous, with holes in the ceiling, and shabby - see pics. The front entrance is what people see first - but that too was disgusting - see photo. The location is good, next to the station but the noise of the traffic going over the level crossing meant sleep was not easy. I suggest that the hotel closes, completes the refurbishment then opens again.

Ideal location at the top (and quiet) end of Porthmadog's main street, with parking. Easy walks down to the pubs, restaurants, beaches and, of course, the historic railway. The hotel is a 200 year old building currently being refurbished by the owner Sian and her family. There are rooms now on two of the three floors with plans to complete the final floor and install a bar in the pipeline.
The room was clean, spacious and quiet at night. It was also amazing value for a place like Porthmadog where the alternatives are more expensive. As it's an owner-managed business, maybe consider booking rooms direct with the hotel to save them the surcharges applied by portal sites. It's clearly a labour of love for Sian and I recommend staying there!

Handy place to stay if you are visiting Portmeirion (10 mins drive). the hotel is located next to the station but don't let that worry you as there are very few trains so no noise to worry about. It wouldn't be fair to comment on the overall property as there were building works going on in the downstairs public areas and exterior. But all the carpets (including stairs) have now been replaced. My room was clean, warm and quiet with crockery & cutlery plus masses of hot drinks & porridge sachets provided in lieu of breakfast. I'd be happy to stay here on another visit and hopefully by then the building will be fully refurbished

We stayed there for one night in August 2022, enjoying an afternoon in Porthmadog. The hotel is very quiet and comfortable, and very close to the city centre and next to a train station. Sian, the hostess, was very kind to us, and even sent us to Spain an ebook that we forgot in the room. If we were to visit the area again, we would definitely stay at the Queens Hotel.

Absolutely awful room number 1 dirty throughout and dust everywhere, bed was like laying on sinking sand. The only positive thing I can say is the host was friendly and plenty of beverages and even porridge available. Other rooms looked OK as when we were leaving I could see in side . So if you book here make sure you don't get room 1 .

Nice clean room with a comfortable bed, everything you need for a short break. Plenty of tea coffee etc and the room was surprisingly quiet give that it is on a main road next to the railway station. Host very friendly and helpful.
Good value for money compared to a lot of places in Porthmadog and surrounding areas where we have stayed when visiting family. Will definitely return.

A very convenient location, situated next to the mainline railway station in Portmadoc. Very clean and comfortable beds in good size rooms. Very COVID 19 aware. Recommend highly. Only rooms available, no breakfast, but some provision in room to do one’s own thing. Rates excellent. Now called Queen’s Rooms.
