We stayed one night as we were being picked up early for onward travel. Check in was efficient but a bit cold, no offer to take bags to the room and directions a bit vague.... The family room was £94.00 per night ex breakfast a reduction of £12.00. Room 14 was at the back of the hotel and directly under...

All in all a mixture of views and I would like to answer them in order: This family were heading off very early next day to the Silverstone Grand Prix. He is sorry if he forgot to offer to take bags as usual - the family seemed really able and independent - and wonders if saying 'the room is just...

Our 2nd visit to this highly traditional hotel. Bedrooms were excellent very clean and well kept. This is a very old building so it has the full panoply of creaking floors etc, if you are a light sleeper try for the top floor, otherwise you will hear the creaking of the person on the bedroom above, of course nothing can be...

Thanks very much for such an honest and realistic appraisal, highly recommending us overall. To deal with your points in order: Delighted you returned to stay with us. We welcome light sleepers requesting particular rooms if they are available, and we are considering providing complimentary foam ear-plugs for those who either forget their own or request some. Our 2 AA...

Took my Mum here last weekend for a 2 night break as she has been unwell lately. First of all the greeting from staff was nice, then we went up to our room. I know the hotel is old but we felt as if we where on a sinking ship as the room went down one side. Anything placed on...

We welcome many guests with older relatives who are seeking to recuperate and the vast majority leave relaxed and refreshed. Overall this review contains a mix of good points - nice welcome, clean bed/ding, and nice bathroom - and issues we would like to answer. A room with a floor like a 'sinking ship' - perhaps a slight exaggeration? Guests...

I've been here before a few times on business. This time went with my family. A nice place to stay in Porthmadog - very central, and easy to go out for a restaurant in the evening. The hotel itself is an old building but the room we stayed in had been very well modernised and had everything that we needed....

Great to hear how some guests initially stay for one reason such as work, and then return for another such as social. Our hotel is ideally situated for all Porthmadog's amenities and activities, including other pubs/restaurants - IF guests really do feel the need to try somewhere else when we serve the best quality lunches and dinners in our bar...

I visited this pub with three colleagues when we were in the area for business; We went on recommendation of the receptionist at the local Travelodge. On first impression it is clear that the pub is traditional in its approach and appearance and, I suppose, suits Portmadog. It is a late Victorian or early Edwardian pub decorated to suit with...

Business customers/guests have been more than welcome at this hotel since commercial travelers first stayed in 1862. The bar's early-Victorian traditional character will gradually be modernised without losing its authenticity - too many poor re-fits around in some places these days! We are delighted our friends at Travelodge continue to refer their more discerning guests to dine with us. And...

A mid Victorian Inn partly modernised but spotless and charming helpful staff. The bedroom and beds were comfortable and there was a good modern bathroom. The restaurant was quite excellent with a very good choice of well prepared food. It's worth staying at this hotel just to eat there. Smart and helpful waitresses.

Another excellent review, thanks very much, similar to the previous one listed. Modernisation of decor, fixtures and fittings here is an ongoing 'style' process, but the substance of our excellent quality accommodation - for example, we now have new beds of the highest hospitality standard in all our rooms - food, drink and customer service will never go out of...

Stayed here for two nights with extended family. Altogether we had five rooms (all in the courtyard). At the age of 54 I am fortunate to have stayed in hotels and b&bs on numerous occasions (work and pleasure), all over the world. For service, this was second to none from reception staff to catering staff to cleaning staff - all...

Wow, what can we say but thanks!!! Yes we remember this family fondly. They really joined in the home-from-home character of this place! "Service among the best enjoyed in the world; superb breakfasts and dinners; and our new beds among most comfortable ever slept in!" We agree. We are keen to retain the bar's traditional character during a modernisation process,...

The food is outstanding. The roast beef and Eton mess I can highly recommend. The barman was a great character. Lovely experience. Dogs are very welcome. The reception lady showed us to the court yard. Nothing was too much trouble.

We stayed for one night, thank god we hadn't booked for longer. First, the car park was full, so we were instructed to park up the road outside a derelict cinema (with a bunch of teenagers sitting on the steps) and move the car early in the morning. Car parking: all our listings, information and terms/conditions state very clearly that hotel parking is limited and first-come first-served, except for those with walking difficulties. We would have advised this couple of other free and safe places to park such as the old cinema where we know people can stay all day without moving early in the morning. Room: decoration...

Friendly staff, good breakfasts with attentive staff in the dining room, warm comfortable room, good beds and large fluffy towels!
