My work colleague and i visited the hotel for work, after travelling from Swindon we arrived at the hotel to find guests outside smoking illegal substances and a pitball left in a car. The rooms were ok but the hotel was untidy and scruffy needs improving, its also a half way house for prisoners so the evening noise was eventful

Couple stayed for one sat night at the rate of ÂŁ60 incl breakfast whilst our son was with a scout group nearby.

The good:

1. It's clean;
2. The bed was actually very comfortable;
3. Neil (the owner/manager) is a very friendly guy;
4. The breakfast was fine (full English/Welsh) and quick;
5. It's comparatively good value;
6. It was warm despite it being very cold outside;
7. Location is good, in a quiet residential street about a 5 minute walk from the high street.

The not so good:

1. The room is small and the bathroom smaller;
2. The toilet seat was not firmly fixed to the toilet;
3. For some reason we could only get tepid water out of the shower even though the basin water was quite hot - fitting problem?

They don't do food on Saturday nights but Neil pointed us in the direction of a good Italian.

So, don't stay if you are looking for luxury. Stay if you are looking for basic, cheap accommodation.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The pub is very basic to look at but they play a great music selection!! They also have a darts board and pool table. It has the feel of a real local pub, but one where newcomers are made welcome and not stared at! We really enjoyed our drinks and conversation whilst listening to the excellent music selection!!
The rooms are clean and simple. It is an old pub building and has the quirky character of one - winding corridors, lots of little staircases, sloping floors etc. The decor is a little dated but the cleanliness is what matters! Some of our group had problems with noise from above but staff were responsive to our request for assistance with the noise.
There is a small parking area which we managed to squeeze a van into!
It is a short walk from the town so very well located.

The reception that I received from the Vietnamese man in flip flops was sensational. He gave me my Timmons key on the loveliest key ring and shown me through the hotel that had the aroma of Ryan giggs football boots, at the end of his career. Now let’s talk about the room, well they should be sponsored by b&m because everything was so sparkly I had to put my sunglasses on. Not got in bed yet but really looking forward to the smell of piss when I do

This place is actually rather disgusting, I have made a complaint with the manager about the noise already to which he said there is nothing he can do. The room is a mess, I am a college student and I’m here under temporary accommodation, I’ve asked to move rooms and they said they can’t. There is no heating here, my bathroom taps do not work, and when the manager is needed he is nowhere to be seen. I recommend not staying here as you will not get a nice night of sleep.

The beds are uncomfortable.
The heating doesn’t work.
Very little space in your rooms.
Very little facility use, just a microwave and a kettle.
Taps may or may not work.

This place is an absolute shambles. Will never be staying here again.

I recently stayed at the Bell Hotel, and it was a very traumatising experience. The room was filthy upon arrival, with visible mould and an unpleasant odor. The linens seemed old and stained, which made me question their hygiene standards.dark grey corridors all the same with no way of knowing how to get out if there was a fire.
No hot water .
Now for the best part, rat droppings on my bed …
If you’re unhappy with life, this place is for you.

Booked into this hotel by my company whilst working in the area close to Newtown, for the price of ÂŁ90 for the room.

We arrived to find a member of staff who could not speak English and had to ring someone else to manage our booking. Not a problem, but it went downhill from here.

The room was disgusting. Burnt and dirty carpet, scratched and damaged walls. The door looked like it had been kicked in with the lock badly replaced. There were stains all over the bedding and the bathroom was mouldy and dirty. The towels provided were not clean.

Decided to look at the previous reviews which highlighted findings worse than this… based on this information we left promptly and booked ourselves into a nearby hotel which by chance had a room free.

Do not stay here.

A nice warm greeting at check in, easy parking right next to hotel. Room had everything I needed, very good WiFi signal even though I was on the top floor. Lovely hot shower and a very comfortable bed

Stayed for 8 nights and will stay again for certain!

Awful. No heating, tap didn’t work and no one would help. The manager was no where to be found after waiting hours I left. Rude staff and a even worse environment to lay your head at night. I recommend anything but here.
