This is, potentially, a lovely place for a quiet garden stroll and a coffee and cake in the cafe. However ...
The gardens and grounds really need a lot of upkeep work. The flower beds, such as they are, appear overgrown and weedy: the shrubs need pruning, the grass needs maintenance and the grounds in general need a lot of tidying up and TLC. In particular, the lake is blocked up with plants and weed and the island is completely overgrown. The signage is scare and sometimes misleading; we spent some time trying to reconcile the colour-coded map with reality on the ground. And the building itself, now part of the University of Wales, badly needs maintenance: windows need refurbishment, paintwork needs attention, mould and damp areas need repair. It could be magnificent: just now it looks sadly abandoned.
We had coffee, scones and cake in the small cafe: the menu is pretty limited - no sandwiches or hot food in spite of the on-site kitchen (we saw a large truck delivering catering supplies). The cafe itself is functional, not warm or welcoming but adequate. Again, it could be developed and do much better.
Overall, a lovely place in a lovely setting; but presentation detracts from the overall experience.

The cafe at Gregynog Hall has beautiful grounds and lovely walks, but the cafe itself was a bit underwhelming. The large, open space felt empty, especially as we were the only customers, and it could really use some music for atmosphere. Service wasn’t great—we had to repeat our order three times before it was correct. The food, though basic like soup and toasties, was tasty. The place has potential, but the staff could definitely benefit from better training and people skills.

The main building is filled with intricate wood paneling, artwork and an extensive book collection. The grounds are magical - extensive and perfect for old and young alike to explore. A sweet little cafe with friendly staff and yummy small bites selection in a courtyard setting makes this place ideal to celebrate a special day or spend a quite afternoon.

Visited for a walk and some lunch at the cafe.
ÂŁ3 to park, even if you use the cafe.
Cafe menu is so limited it is untrue. I tried to find the menu online before we visited, but it is not available online. It is also expensive for what it is.
Food (toasties) comes in a cardboard box - not even a plate when you are eating in. Coffee comes in a disposable cup. Not really sustainable.
no options of even a jacket potato. Someone really needs to look at this and the reputation is it getting, it could generate funds.
Also, if you do go to a music recital there, why are you still expected to pay for parking when you have bought a ticket for the event.
No info on website re access for disabilities and parking charge still applies.
Won't be going back, despite being local.

As locals, we visit this area multiple times a week to enjoy the circular walk, and we have regularly chosen to stop at the café for refreshments. However, we have decided not to return to the café moving forward due to consistently poor service. On our last three visits, we experienced unreasonably long wait times of approximately 30 minutes just for a simple toastie or sandwich order. Despite the café not being overly busy during these visits, the service remained very slow, and staff did not seem attentive or proactive in managing orders. Given the high prices of food and drinks, we would expect a much higher standard of service. It’s disappointing to see such a decline, as this could otherwise be a convenient and pleasant stop during our walks.

We discoved it by accident.
We were trying to find somewhere we had never been before as many places are repeat trips.
Set the sat navigation and it took us almost to the door but the took us away again to the village.
Don't Believe the Sat. Nav!!! It speeks with forked tongue
We saw other cars doing the same.
Better signage would have been helpful as apparently it is quite a regular problem.
Car parking was very reasonable at ÂŁ2.50.
Grounds and house very impressive.
When the weather is warmer we will revisit
Cafe was very nice good coffee, and the lentil and bacon soup deserves special praise
Polly in the Cafe was very helpful
Will definitely return with family.

Beautiful location with a terrrific Easter Trail. Children receive a map, a cake and a drink as part of the deal. Great value and thoroughly enjoyable. Best breakfast naps ever. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean toilets. Wonderful summer programme. We’ll be back SOON.

Four of us on a motorcycle trip to Snowdonia popped in as we noticed the sign that said the cafe was open . We drove through the forest and with plenty of parking put our motorcycle near the cafe entrance. Service was good and the food was great. I had a latte with a double shot of espresso and a pesto panini.
While there they explained there are lodgings with the choice of breakfast. It would make a great base for exploring Wales as the roads are great for motorcycles.
Parking there is really easy and safe for the motorcycles.
The staff are knowledgeable as well about what to do around the area.

After a lovely walk around the grounds, we went to the courtyard Cafe for a snack. It was coming up to lunch time and was beginning to get a little busy. The young lady on the till that took your order appeared to have a bit of an attitude. I asked if the bacon could have the fat removed off my sandwich, which I had asked for with brown bread. As well as my husbands sandwich with 2 Americans coffees. After waiting quite a while the girl came and told us they had run out of brown bread , and they only had white left. My husband said “well that will have to do”she huffed and raised her eyebrows. She then bought the Americano coffees. They were that strong you had your head blown off. The sandwiches arrived and there was more fat than bacon on the sandwich.i could not eat it and wrapped it up. To remove the fat when I got home. The young boy behind the counter served someone with a slice of cake, no gloves on and he put his finger in the cake whilst sliding it on to the slate plate. Not a very good experience today.

Thank you very much for your review, we are really sorry that whilst you were visiting Gregynog the service you received in the coffee shop was not what you expected or indeed what we would have wanted you to have. Gregynog Hall is a wonderful place to visit and enjoy lovely walks, however, the cafe needs better management. A few days ago, after our walk in the sunshine, we visited the Courtyard Cafe for a snack. We ordered and then waited 40 minutes! We experienced a catalogue of disasters and finally got our modest order an hour after our arrival. There was much confusion, no real system, and chaos, on a busy, sunny afternoon, that had encouraged a number of customers to visit. Words can't describe how good the food was (cheese scones to die for), but getting it, was a bit of a challenge!
