I am so happy to give the first review for Candle Inn the Window Bed and Breakfast in Berwick, Nova Scotia. I had the pleasure of staying there twice this past week. I came to Nova Scotia to do motivational speaking at high schools and I needed accommodations in the Berwick area. First of all when I sent my e mail they got back to me right away; which is always a great thing in my book.

I was in the Valley area twice and had planned to book at another B&B the second time but after my stay there I knew that I would return there again the following week.

They sent me the directions and they ended up being around the corner from where I had to present which was very convenient.

My first impressions were that Bill and Polly are Wonderful and so Nice! I was there for a short time but feel like I have a true place to return to in the Valley and feel at home every single time. The rooms are georgous, spacious, very clean and comfortable. I stayed in two rooms as I went back to stay there again this week. My first stay was in the Captain's Quarters which had a beautiful bed that was very comfortable and then this week I stayed in the Sailor's Retreat.

I write a travel column and will also feature the Candle Inn in my June Column as of my favourite places to stay between 2011/2012.

Breakfast was great and plentiful on both of my stays... I had eggs benedict the first time with fresh fruit and I had scrambled eggs, and fruits and whole grain toast the second time... both very hearty and filling. Polly asks you what you want the night before and what time you'd like breakfast, which I also found to be a great service.

I highly recommend the Candle Inn the Window, but I don't want it to be too popular because when I return to the Valley that's going to be the place that I book.

It was a dark and stormy night as I arrived at this attractive B&B, and there were indeed candles in the windows. I'd not been here before and I could see no signs directing me here, so I was pleased that I found it on my first try at venturing off the main street. My hostess was very welcoming and when I told her I'd forgotten my cell phone at home--the thought of almost 24 hours unplugged was unnerving---she assured me there was a phone available for guests to call anywhere in North America for free.

My room was huge, almost like a suite, with a king-sized bed, TV, comfy chair, and free wifi. There was a small wardrobe area between the bedroom and the large bathroom, with two sinks, and a tub with spa-like fittings. Once I'd figured out how to work the alarm (my phone is usually my alarm) I settled in to work for the evening.

My breakfast of choice when travelling for work is bacon and eggs, because they can sustain me through the morning. In the morning I was greeted with juice, nice, crisp bacon, eggs done just as I like them, toast and jam, and a lovely pot of hot tea. My hostess joined me and we had a chat before it was time to pay my bill and leave for work.

I was pleased to get a discount for CAA membership. They also offer discounts for cash. A very pleasant stay.

I had the pleasure to stay here for 5 nights. What a wonderful experience to say the least. Bill and Polly are the perfect hosts. I enjoyed a beautiful room with a small but powerful and quiet ac. The breakfast is to die for, tasty and healthy. I also enjoyed interesting and pleasant conversations you would unlikely experience in a 5Star hotel.
What makes this place so special is Polly and Bill make it to be "your" home.

We were given a list of accommodations in the Berwick area for out of town wedding guests. After checking out many on the computer, decided on Candle Inn the Window. We had never stayed in a Bed and Breakfast before, so were a wee bit apprehensive.
Well, all I can say is, we were more than delighted with our choice!!
Polly and Bill were the most amazing hostess/host.
Our room was tastefully decorated, the bed and pillow so comfy.
Everything was immaculate........bathroom shining clean.
Our first morning we were pleasantly surprised with a delicious breakfast.....a tasty plate of fresh fruit for each of us to start with! Pollys Eggs Benedict to follow......yummy!
And always a full coffee cup....
Just when we thought it couldn't get any better, breakfast on our second day was a feast! Again a bowl of fresh fruit to start.....a lovely glass pedestal with hot homemade biscuits......homemade jam.....a platter of cut up cheese with a round of Brie in the center. This was followed by a piece of quiche with sliced tomato on the side that makes my mouth water just writing about it!!!
And again that yummy full coffee cup.
After all was served up, Polly and Bill joined us each morning to have their breakfast. Their warm, friendly manner made us feel right at home.
I think at one point during breakfast I commented "I felt like a young child on Christmas
morning!!"
If we ever have need again, will certainly stay at this B & B!!!

This is a wonderful spot to stay in Nova Scotia. The owners are so very hospitable, warm and friendly, while the rooms are large and comfortable. The breakfasts are delicious and the location is lovely. Highly recommended.

We stayed for 2 nights in mid October - somewhat by chance due to unexpected change in plans. Lucky us! Bill & Polly welcomed us warmly and took good care of us with delightful breakfasts, beautiful accommodation, local information and enriching conversations.
Because of them and their gorgeous home, we will fondly remember our brief time in the Annapolis Valley. Don't bother looking at alternative accommodation. Stay with Bill & Polly and let them spoil you.

Let me begin by saying that I do not prefer B&Bs while traveling. I like the privacy of a hotel room. I was booked into this by my company while traveling on business.

But if you like B&B's I am sure you will like Candle in the Window. I stayed in the Captain's Quarter's. It is a great room for a individual or couple. It had a large bed with TV, it's one bathroom with tub, shower, and double sink. The other two rooms that I saw from the hallway appeared to share the hallway bathroom. All three rooms were upstairs.

Polly is a good cook and the breakfasts were delicious. If B&Bs are your thing, you will enjoy staying here.

Just spent this past Thanksgiving weekend October 10th to October 13th at a this wonderful B&B. We were visiting family in the area and decided with our visiting Ontario friends to stay at the Candle Inn The Window. Undoubtedly a charming B&B.
But what makes this B&B so special are the owners Bill and Polly.
The rooms are lovely and the breakfasts superb!
My husband made the perfect comment to me as we headed back to Dieppe. " Polly and Bill are so nice and they have the perfect personalities needed to have a successful Bed and Breakfast" Even more so you can see how much they enjoy what they do!

So hats off to you both for being so special!

Cheers Chris & Peter

We found this spot on the fly after a disappointing stay in Mabou and it is a gem. Bill and Polly are superb hosts and the house is incredible. We stayed in the Captain’s Quarters - an incredible room with a king sized bed and a huge ensuite bathroom. The house is filled with absolutely gorgeous woodwork. Breakfast the next morning was excellent and Bill provided some great sight seeing ideas which we followed. I would return to this B and B in a heartbeat.
