Hostal de la Luz is a stunning compound in beautiful surroundings. Asian inspired architecture and greenery feels almost like a Balinese retreat. We were there off season, and the resort was largely empty. Although the staff appeared plentiful the resort was not well maintained. Cobwebs were everywhere. The dining area and bar feels a bit like a camp setting. The...

The place is very comfortable and in each spot, the relaxing environment has been carefully built. Restaurant services are surprisingly over the top of other places in Tepoztlan, Amatlan, etc. Very fine mexican wines, superb attention and menus. Maybe a little artificial to mix ancient aztec rituals with an Egyptian pyramid, Hindu sculptures and chineese Budas. Our room was really...

Highly recommended. Who stay at this hostal are seeking for peace, meditation and quiet. No children under 16 years are admitted. It's a different place because it was chosen by the Dalai Lama as one of the "places of peace" in the world. The hostal has a monument offered by him. The hotel has various holistic activities and I enjoyed...

This resort is dedicated to the holistic renewal of body and spirit. I'm not much into a shaman and smoky rituals but I can vouch for for a great pool to relax by with a good supply of Negro Modelo's while the wife enjoyed a temazcal sweat treatment and as she tells me a fantastic massage. We were there with...

We spent a lovely day at the spa, with excellent views and accommodations. The spa has many choices for therapies ranging from a sweat lodge with traditional shaman blessings followed by a surprising slide down into a very cold pool. Great feeling after the cleansing. I heard great things about the massages (I wish I'd done that), but chose instead,...

Spent one night at the holistic boutique resort and it is ideal for those who love anything that has to do with esoteric matters. There is yoga, meditation, temazcal, rituals, etc. Food is very good, homestyle nothing fncy but very tasteful. The rooms are adequate. No TV. Brearhtaking views of the mountains (hoping to see UFOs with no success) but...

I visited Hostal de la Luz for the second time this weekend and had a very frightening experience. During a private temazcal, the shaman became physically aggressive with my mother, massaging her back with such force that she yelled out in pain and asked him to stop. Instead, he pressed her head down to his groin level and started to...

If you're looking for a very relaxing experience, this is the perfect place! With an outstanding view, beautiful well kept premises and good services, this is the place to go in Tepoztlan. Just keep in mind that it's on the way to Amatlán, so it's a bit far from downtown Tepoztlan.
