This hostel has everything you needed. I was surprised that they even have WiFi and electricity. Well equipped kitchen you can use or order breakfast/lunch/dinner and have a family dinner. Staff members are very helpful, welcoming and careful. Beds are very comfy + shower with hot water. I left my optical glasses there and was very upset that I will never see them again, but we contacted them and asked if they can find someone who goes to Montevideo next day and they did. OMGosh, guys, I can't be thankful enough for such an effort to help me to reunite with my glasses. I can read again and see everything properly. You are simply the BEST!!!
Wow! What a find ! Love this hostel. Only small, but so.much character , and the staff are just so amazing. They make the best vegetarian meals and cost is reasonable. Very neat and tidy accommodation. Great location for all that this beautiful town has to offer. Loved it
The hostel staff is one of the best i've ever met, delicious food and great atmosphere. The biggest issue is that this hostel should not be open during winter, there is no heating service, and the wind flow through the walls and windows. The bathroom is also a bit poor with a bad toilet water and a narrow space for showers. Surely it is not ready to welcome guests during winter. Also there is no Wifi at all in there
I have to start by saying that I am not very picky about accommodations when traveling - having tried out everything from hostels, B&B, guesthouse, homestays to luxury hotels. Viejo Lobo is highly ranked here on TA in Cabo and we were looking for a small hostel to stay for our 2 night stay.. Located not far from where the trucks drops you of, right next to the beach and close to restaurants and bars; the location is perfect. On arrival we were met by the manager, informing us about the hostel and the surroundings with tips and suggestions about things to do. The hostel is very small, with 2 kitchen areas, fridge with beers and softdrinks to buy. You can cook yourself or buy breakfast, lunch and dinner for a small extra cost. Seating areas next to the kitchens. Several bedrooms both on groundfloor and on second floor. Bathrooms and showers to share. On the time we visited there were a lot of guests, overbooked they said. We had a small double bedroom on ground floor next to one of the bathrooms. Sliding doors with no locks except for bathrooms and showers. The bed was small with bedlinen that could have been more clean, the same with the bathrooms. We did not use the showers so I do not know about that. There is free Wifi all day and they have a charging station for phones and batteries. On the day/night we stayed, the weather was not so good with a lot of wind and rain. There is a small outdoor seating, but not under roof, so all the guest was inside. A lot of the guests was smoking both sigaretts and marihuana inside, while the manager and some other of the "staff" was getting their tattoos on the sofa while smoking marihuana.. I know about the marihuana policy in Uruguay and Cabo, but it was a strange atmosphere and it just got to much for us.. (The owner was not at work the days we were there and we were told by an other guest that the atmosphere had been different just days before..) We spent most of our time outside the hostel and had our meals on other restaurants and found a new place to stay for our last night in Cabo. I do not know if it was the cat that had visited our bed when we were out but when we woke up we had small dots all over our backs. (Funfact: Booking.com asked me after our stay if we got our non-smoking room as asked for.. With doors that can not close completely and with several guests and staff smokings sigaretts and marihuana right outside our bedroom door how could they meet our wish... If you like it small, and do not mind a lot of guests and staff all together in a very limited, and not to clean, space, smoking marihuana inside in every room - this is your place. If not; find somewhere else to stay.…
Great hostel. Right as soon you walk in, you feel like family. The atmosphere and vibe was fantastic, and the food was also great! Definitely recommend this place when visiting Cabo Polonio, because you will feel like family rather than a tourist.
