There are only 2 reasons i decided to give it a 2 star rating. The view and excitement of first seeing the setup of our room window and secondly the vibe at night, with the fire and live music. Having known we had booked a hostel in Cabo Polonio, where electricity isn't available, we were well aware of what to expect. Just so I'm clear, I've stayed in hostels in South East Asia, India, England, Australia and New Zealand as well as in homestays in several remote locations in South America with my partner. Having said that, even in a hostel, basic cleanliness & hygiene is essential. The room was in the attic of the hostel (which we were aware of) and we had no problem with the size. The view from the room was beautiful. That's where it ends. The bed had several bed bugs with affected us for the rest of our trip through Uruguay. I did not get a wink of sleep all through the night as a result , in addition to the mosquitoes. The Noise goes on until 4-5 AM as well. In the morning when we woke up, the toilets (All 3) had no water and ''crap'' was still floating in it. The day before the toilets were a little better but not clean. At 80 USD a night !!! This is literally a robbery with absolutely no value for money. The reviews on Booking.com and Tripadvisor can be very misleading at times. The breakfast which we included was prepared in a hurry and yet took close to an hour to get ready, with everything soggy. I cannot really say the staff were bad as they were friendly, unfortunately they either are severely understaffed or have no clue how to run a hostel. I think it can be make into a really beautiful hostel, if they tried. Unfortunately, I would have to say I will not be going back to Lobo hoste and quiet frankly, could not wait to leave Cabo Polonio because of it.…
The place has a nice atmosphere but the 4 bed dorm room was very squishy. The water is hot which is nice. Heads up there is no wifi and the electricity is very limited. The food is good and they have a kitchen for you to make your own meals as well. Every night there is also a fire and some singing.
Although the resort was quiet, as the season had not really started, the hostel was lively over the weekend. We had a private room in the loft, there was enough space for our stuff but be prepared not to be able to stand up and to negotiate the tricky stairs! Hot showers, good food and lovely staff. We were appreciably older than the other guests but were included in the lively and multilingual conversations. If you want to enter into the spirit of Cabo Polonio then this is a good choice.
Visiting a remote beach town in the off season is not meant to be a luxury vacation. I was looking for a peaceful beach break, and this was perfect. The hostel was clean and comfortable. The manager was awesome, very helpful and accommodating, always made a fire for us in the evenings. The other guests were delightful and we enjoyed exploring and cooking together at the hostel. I would definitely visit again.
Definitely recommend! Although the busy summer period is over the hostel was still popular and had an easy going chill vibe. Marcin made everyone feel really welcome. Great place to chill, great place to party.
